“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately.” And so it began. Henry David Thoreau, at 27, built a tiny, one-room cabin in the woods — on land owned by his friend, Ralph Waldo Emerson — and began his two-year experiment in frugality on the shore of Walden Pond. He wasn’t...

Skinwalkers at the Pentagon unmasks the massive scope of the Pentagon’s landmark UFO study that ran from the Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC. The Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program or AAWSAP investigated the “Tic Tac” and other “nuts and bolts” UFO events, analyzed intrusions of UFOs onto US military bases, as well as probed the plethora of bizarre phenomena that government investigators encountered on Skinwalker Ranch.

This account of the life of St. Ignatius, dictated by himself to Father Gonzalez, is a most valuable record of the great Founder of the Society of Jesus. It, more than any other work, gives an insight into the spiritual life of St. Ignatius. Few works in ascetical literature, except the writings of St. Teresa and St. Augustine, impart such a knowledge of the soul. The saint in his narrative always refers to himself in the third person, and this mode of speech has here been retained.

E.R. Edison’s The Worm Ouroboros inspired the epic-fantasy that followed him. This production is of the first edition (1922). The Lords of Demonland are celebrating Lord Juss’s birthday when an envoy arrives from Witchland. He brings demands from King Gorice XI of Witchland that the Lords of Demonland “kiss his toe, and acknowledge him to be their King and they, his ill-conditioned, disobedient children”. The Lords of Demonland reject this utterly and, to settle the matter, they challenge King Gorice to a wrestling match against their champion, Lord Goldry Bluszco.

This collection of miscellaneous essays was published posthumously in 1921. In the first and largest section, The Hidden Power, the author identifies Spirit as the "innermost within" of all things and the unseen essence of all phenomena. He develops this proposition to claim that Spiritual Science has fixed laws just as does Physical Science, and that an understanding of the laws could enable man to develop powers of which he is currently unaware. The other essays cover a range of topics relating to metaphysics, the Bible and other arcana of religion.

Russell once said, "Do not fear to be eccentric in opinion, for every opinion now accepted was once eccentric." His views on religion in general, and on Christianity in particular (as in this work), were considered "eccentric" by many of his contemporaries. So were his views on sex, which figures frequently as an example of the misery that Christian leaders and thinkers inflict, and for which he was often vilified. The lectures in this collection leave no doubt about his views on these and related subjects.

In several of his works, New Thought author James Allen employs architectural metaphors in his expositions about creating a successful and rewarding life.

A beautiful tale from a truly classic writer. Oscar Wilde helps us all learn that just because someone is different than we are comfortable with, there are worthwhile moments to be shared. This was true for a giant who hated children. When he finally welcomed a child into his realm, this child was much more than anyone realized. Written for all ages and narrated by Glenn Hascall.

Six verses are among the most comforting in all Scripture. Psalm 23 is the basis for this classic book from 1921. Filled with poems and stories, this should leave each listener with assurance and comfort. There's more to these six verses than you might have believed.

In this series of fifteen lessons Author William Walker Atkinson (1862 - 1932) explores a range of techniques whereby a person can develop his psychic powers and magnetism in the pursuit of personal success. Atkinson claims that, in spite of their apparently metaphysical origins, the modalities he discusses are simple, realistic and practical.

In "The Parasite," Arthur C Clarke explores the dark and unsettling world of "mental illness" through the eyes of Roy Connolly. But Roy knows he isn't crazy, he has been possessed by Omega, a creature of the very distant future where humanity exists primarily as intellect with severely emaciated bodies. And what fun is that? The solution is to travel back in time to a more physical era

James Allen (1864 - 1912) was one of the most celebrated exponents of New Thought philosophy, a synthesis of universalist spiritual principles, which has since become the basis of many of the theories promulgated by the vast self-improvement industry of the present day.

The Kybalion purports to be an exposition of the teaching of the mysterious Hermes Trismegistus, a legendary figure, whose origin is buried in Egyptian mythology. A considerable body of literature that expounds theories and practices attributed to him is extant and has been categorized as Hermetic. The focus of early Hermetic literature was on conjuring and alchemy. In later centuries, Hermeticism developed into a philosophy of personal self-development, the object of which was the understanding and transcending of physical reality.

In this brief treatise, prolific New Thought author Christian Larson explores the sheer power of maintaining a positive attitude. As the author says: "Resolve to please yourself by being glad, and you can add immeasurably to your happiness in this simple manner. You must remember that the fountain of joy within your own soul is infinitely greater than all external sources of joy combined."

In Rhonda Byrne's self-help book, The Secret, published in 2006, the theory of the Law of Attraction is presented as a re-discovery of an ancient metaphysical principle, buried in ages of historical neglect. However, nothing could be further from the truth. Exactly a century earlier, prolific New Thought author William Walker Atkinson published Thought Vibration, a succinct but thorough examination of the power of thought and its function in the creation and control of personal circumstances.

In this audiobook, New Thought philosopher James Allen contests the conventional wisdom that individual prosperity is dependent primarily on improvements in public welfare and political equity.

James Allen (1864 - 1912) was a philosopher and a pioneer of the New Thought movement. His works have formed the basis of much of the curriculum used today by many motivational and self-help groups.

The Divine Companion was the last work completed by James Allen and was published posthumously in 1919. Of the book, Allen himself wrote: "It is the story of my soul, and should be read last of all my books, so that the student may understand and find my message in its pages. Therefore hold it back until you have published everything else." The book is divided into three sections: The Divine Companion, The Divine Dialogue and The Divine Messages. The first section is an exploration of various aspects of truth.

Little is known of the life of Zen master Huang-Po (Obaku in Japanese). He was born in Fuzhou, China, and died about 850 AD. His main teacher was Pai Chang (Hyakujo) (720 - 814). The main source for Huang-Po's teaching is the Treatise of the Essentials of the Transmission of the Mind, compiled by his student, Pei Xiu. Huang-Po's teaching is focused on the concept of Mind, the essence of intrinsic Buddahood. According to the master, the search for enlightenment was a useless distraction, as seeking for something inevitably separates the seeker from what is being sought.
