    • T-046: Joseph McGeechan - State Of Suspension Live (6-10-25)
      Oct 6 2025
Joseph McGeechan returns to Transmissions from the Black Hole with part 2 of his live mix series. His album is out now on Omen Records, hopefully we get part 3 next year. Expect a stomping industrial powerhouse of a set from this Berlin Based Artist. Apologies for late post of this set.

Joseph McGeechan began his career in 2008 as one half of the BCR Boys they released on their own Backwater Community Recordings label and also on Perc Trax. With further releases on Synewave and Sleaze, 2011 saw them headline both Berlin heavyweights, Tresor and Berghain.

Joseph’s solo productions are uncompromising basic techno, influenced by the sound of early techno on labels like Tresor, Axis, Downwards and newer labels like Repitch, 3TH, Black Sun Records and Inner Surface Music.

iFormat has a darker, more aggressive, industrial sound. Heavily influenced by the sinister and eerie soundscapes of sci-fi and horror movies, these give a disturbing sense of foreboding to McGeechan’s dystopian, post-punk exploration of the decay of society.

Obsoleet is a journey of exploration of the inner self, exploring the boundaries of human emotion. Using dark, industrial, metallic and almost sci-fi sounds, we try and find ways to reconnect, with ourself and those around us, standing on the borderline of uncertainty, looking for escape.

To become obsolete, is to no longer be recognised. It no longer becomes relevant who makes the music, but more what the music is about. In an attempt to no longer be yourself, you choose to assume another identity. Disconnecting from yourself, to become something you are not, as you attempt to escape something you no longer want to be.

His music can be found on labels like: Synewave, Local Sound Network, Perc Trax, Prosthetic Pressings, Djax Upbeats, Sleaze, Monolith Records, Writtentozero, Decoy, Nightmare Factory Records, UFF Records and many more.

His music has been supported by artists like Regis, Ancient Methods, Ryuji Takeuchi, Adam X, Zadig, Dasha Rush, Xhin, Reeko, James Ruskin, Luke Slater, Bas Mooy, D.Carbone, Dave Clarke, Norman Nodge, Rebekah and many more.

He has been remixed by artists like Ancient Methods, Perc, Ryuji Takeuchi, Excluded, Voidloss, Electrorites, Sawf, K209, Go Hiyama, Gary Beck, Mike Humphries, Audio Injection and many more, and has remixed artists like Ryuji Takeuchi, Miss Djax, Patrick DSP, Gary Beck, Monoloc, Hans Bouffmyhre and more.

Joseph has played alongside a wide array of artists like Zadig, Sleeparchive, Davide Carbone, Ascion, Steve Bicknell, J.C, UVB, Max Durante, Damon Wild, Marcel Dettmann, Diego Hostettler, Dave Ellesmere, Norman Nodge, Bas Mooy, Xhin, Rebekah, Hans Bouffmyhre, Billy Nasty, Space Djz, Psyk, Angel Alanis, Patrick Walker (FSG), Erphun, Casual Violence, Bill Youngman, Joey Beltram, Alan Fitzpatrick, The Advent, Slam, Pacou, Violet Poison, Mace, The Horrorist and many more.

He has been a regular guest in Tresor, as well as playing other clubs in Berlin like Liber Null, Suicide Circus, Subland, Berghain, Griessmuehle, and places like Madrid, Prague, Amsterdam, Koln, Moscow, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Manchester, London, Leeds and Birmingham.

      Bookings.

    • T-045: DJ Surgeles Artist Mix (1-9-25)
      Sep 1 2025
T-045: DJ Surgeles Artist Mix (1-9-25)

This month we have an exclusive live mix from Alkmaar's DJ Surgeles as part of our Invite series.

This mix is a journey through 25 years of releases from myself, including the most weird sounds ive made....
Expect some raw material and only playing on max volume level please...
Thanks Dave for having me on the show!

      Best Surgeles

Kole Leijen (1983) is started playing and making Techno music since 1998.

Surgeles (Kole Leijen) is a true musician with a lot of energy. He started digging into his parent’s records collection at the age of five and at the young age of eight his sister introduced him to house music. Soon after that, young Surgeles got his first set of turntables as a present for his birthday and started visiting regularly his local record dealer. While after a couple of years he started producing his own dark, deep and swerving techno. In 2005, while attending a Jeff Mills’s show, Surgeles managed to give a demo CD to The Wizard. The very next day Surgeles received a personal mail from Jeff Mills claiming that his music sounded great and that it inspired him to let Surgeles make a mix for his Purpose Maker Label. Two weeks later Surgeles’ mix was on Jeffs Mills’ Axis Records’ website for the 10th anniversary of the all-time Techno anthem "The Bells". ! Later that year, during the Amsterdam Dance Event, Surgeles won a competition hosted by Dave Clarke for the best produced track and was than picked to play on Dave Clarke’s White Noise radio show on 3FM Radio. Around 2007 Kole started throwing his own parties called ‘Civilized?” at the legendary Escape club in Amsterdam. While 2009 marked the beginning of his career as record-label boss, as he launched his brainchild: ‘Underground Freedom Fighters (UFF) Records’. ! Ever since, the collaborations with Jeff Mills kept on flowing and Surgeles' consecration came when Jeff asked him to make a compilation for his label, ‘Something In The Sky’. ! In 2017 Jeff entrusted DJ Surgeles to take care of “the Betty Hill Case”, a 12” inspired by the story and the interviews of an American couple, who were allegedly abducted by extraterrestrials in a rural portion of New Hampshire in 1961.
