    On The Homer Hour, Steve “Homer” True and Gary Ellerson try to make sense of the Packers after their humiliating loss to Atlanta. Homer asks a question that hasn’t felt legitimate in decades: are the Packers one of the worst teams in football? Gary boils Green Bay’s problems down to three fundamentals: they can’t run the football, they can’t stop the run and they lead the league in penalties. As Gary puts it, “so goes the line, so goes the team.” The guys debate whether Matt LaFleur is capable of completely changing how he coaches this team. Homer believes LaFleur looks lost because he’s trying to operate like he still has the roster from previous seasons, while Gary says this version of the Packers requires a more conservative approach. They also question Green Bay’s philosophy of drafting smaller, versatile offensive linemen after Jagger Burton’s struggles and wonder whether Brian Gutekunst has simply built the wrong group up front. Plus, Homer and Gary debate who deserves the most blame between Gutekunst, LaFleur and the players, while Gary explains why Tucker Kraft deserves some patience as he works his way back physically and mentally.     Kyle Wallace fills in on The Homer Hour and wastes no time sounding the alarm over the Packers’ offensive line. Aaron Banks has officially been ruled out against Atlanta, Zach Tom is done for the season and Green Bay could be forced to protect Jordan Love with a completely reshuffled group. Kyle asks who deserves the most blame for a unit that has struggled to protect Love, establish the run and keep the offense out of brutal third-down situations. Jason Wilde joins the show and says the Packers are still trying to figure out exactly what they are through two uneven weeks. Wilde expects a possible starting five of Jordan Morgan, Jagger Burton, Sean Rhyan, Jacob Monk and Anthony Belton against Atlanta and explains why committing to that group could at least give Green Bay some desperately needed continuity. He also says the offense may need simplified protections, additional blockers and a functioning running game to keep Love upright. Plus, Wilde offers a different explanation for Matt LaFleur’s controversial run-run sequence against the Jets: maybe the conservative play calling wasn't about a lack of trust in Jordan Love, but a lack of trust in the offensive line protecting him. Then Tim Van Voren joins Kyle to discuss the Brewers’ World Series chances, his concerns about Wisconsin football and why Thursday night against Atlanta is a game the Packers simply have to win.

    On The Homer Hour, Steve “Homer” True and Bryan Bulaga are still trying to comprehend what happened against Atlanta. Bulaga watched the game back multiple times and still can’t explain how Green Bay repeatedly blew basic assignments, including four offensive linemen blocking two defenders while Jordan Love was crushed by a free rusher. After giving the line some grace against Brian Flores and Minnesota, Bulaga says there’s no explanation for seeing the same breakdowns at home against Atlanta. Jason Wilde joins the conversation and puts the protection problems into perspective: the two worst games by an NFL offensive line in quick pressures allowed this season both belong to Green Bay. Wilde and Bulaga discuss whether Laken Tomlinson and Mekhi Becton can provide immediate help, but neither views them as saviors. The hope is much simpler: bring in experienced players who know their assignments and stop allowing the catastrophic mental breakdowns that have left Love taking massive hits. And the problems extend beyond pass protection. Green Bay couldn’t stop Bijan Robinson, struggled to tackle in space and abandoned its own running game almost immediately. Bulaga says the Packers have to find something they can confidently run 20 to 25 times per game, because throwing constantly behind a line that can’t pass protect is a recipe for disaster. With Tampa Bay and an undrafted rookie quarterback up next, Wilde says the Packers should expect to win, but after three ugly performances, they haven’t earned the right to look down on anybody.
