Metro Atlanta wakes up at 60 degrees and climbs to 81 by mid-afternoon. Partly sunny skies give way to a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 P.M. If storms develop, we could see a quarter to half an inch of rain. Tonight dips to 63 with thunderstorms possible through 2 A.M. Down along the coast, patchy fog greets Savannah and Brunswick this morning before clearing by 9 A.M. You'll hit 79 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Tonight stays mild at 62. Eastern Georgia sees similar warmth — 83 degrees by afternoon. Morning fog clears fast, then a slight chance of thunderstorms pops up between 60 degrees and 3 P.M. Overnight lows settle around 63. Saturday brings more of the same — low 80s with scattered afternoon showers and storms. South winds gust to 20 miles an hour. Saturday night, storm chances jump to 70 percent as a weak front slides through. Sunday turns unsettled. Showers and thunderstorms likely statewide, with highs dropping to the mid-70s in Atlanta. The coast stays warmer near 83. Early next week keeps the pattern going — daily chances for showers and storms, with highs in the upper 70s to mid-80s. Fog lingered early across parts of the state, but it's gone now. Sunshine takes over. And temperatures explode. Metro Atlanta hits 79 this afternoon. Savannah climbs to 76 along the coast. Push inland toward Augusta and you're looking at 81 degrees — the hottest spot in Georgia today. Here's the thing: we're running 54 degrees to 54 degrees above normal. This is summer warmth in the first week of March. Tonight stays mild. Lows around 60 statewide under partly cloudy skies. Light south winds at 5 to 10 miles an hour. Friday cranks the heat higher. Atlanta reaches 82, the coast hits 78. And inland areas push 83. That's when the atmosphere gets restless. Afternoon showers and storms develop, especially north of I-85. Dense fog is wrapping the southeast this morning. Visibility drops to a quarter mile or less until around 9 A.M. Give yourself extra time if you're heading out early. Metro Atlanta hits 79 degrees today under mostly sunny skies. Tonight's low holds at a mild 60. Eastern Georgia climbs even higher, reaching 81 with just a touch of morning fog between 7 and 8 A.M. The coast peaks at 77 after the fog lifts by mid-morning. There's also a Flood Warning for the Ogeechee River near Midville. Minor flooding is occurring in Burke. Emanuel. And Jenkins counties.
