• What John Sarno Teaches Us About Insomnia | Ep 73
    May 21 2026

John Sarno made his mark in the mind-body world by challenging one powerful assumption: that chronic pain is caused by a broken body.

Instead, he proposed that the brain could generate symptoms in response to a perceived threat.

What if those exact same principles apply to insomnia?

    Well, I believe they do.

In this episode, I break down how Sarno’s work applies directly to sleep—and why insomnia may have far more in common with chronic pain than a sleep disorder.

We’ll look at three key mechanisms that keep insomnia going—and once you see them, it will completely change how you understand what’s happening in your body.

This episode is my small ode of gratitude to Dr. John Sarno.

I hope you enjoy it! 🧡

  • How Long Until Insomnia Goes Away? | Ep 71
    Apr 2 2026

“How long until this goes away?”

It’s a question almost everyone asks and it’s the one that keeps us stuck.

In this episode, we talk about hyperarousal, timeline thinking, the waiting game, and why recovery begins when you start living instead of waiting.

    We also talk about:

    • Why insomnia isn’t something you have, but something the brain learns to do
    • How timeline pressure can actually keep the nervous system activated
    • Why putting life on hold keeps sleep on a pedestal
    • The paradox that recovery often begins when you stop waiting for it to end

If you’ve been stuck in the “when will this end?” loop, this episode will help you see recovery from a completely different perspective.

  • 10 Signs You’re Recovering From Insomnia | Ep 70
    Mar 12 2026

Wondering what true recovery actually looks?

Feel like sleep is the ONLY sign that things are getting better?

Wish you had a clearer sense of whether you’re on the right track?

    This episode is for you.

Most of us who struggle with insomnia are driven, type-A, perfectionistic overachievers. We love a clear plan. A step-by-step path. Boxes to check.

Milestones feel reassuring because they show our brain that progress is happening.

But insomnia recovery doesn’t unfold in that neat, linear way. A when the milestones aren’t obvious, it can feel confusing… or even discouraging.

In this episode, I’m going to walk you through 10 common signs that healing is happening, even if sleep itself hasn’t come back online yet.

    A few highlights:

    • Why recovery feels more like a cha-cha dance than a straight line
    • The real metric of success in insomnia recovery
    • Why sleep itself isn’t actually the solution to insomnia
    • What usually begins to change BEFORE sleep becomes consistent again

If you’ve been wondering whether you’re moving forward or spinning your wheels, this episode will help you see the ways progress is already unfolding.

Recovery isn’t just about getting your sleep back.

It’s about getting your LIFE back. 🧡

  • Insomnia and the Science of Focus | Ep 68
    Jan 29 2026

When I had insomnia, I couldn’t figure out why anything having to do with sleep felt so GIGANTIC in my mind.

Every nuance, every sensation, every night felt more critical than the last.

It was very life-or-death to me.

What I didn’t realize at the time was:

There was a perfectly logical reason for this.

    My brain wasn’t malfunctioning.

It was doing exactly what brains are designed to do.

It was filtering IN what mattered most. And filtering OUT what didn't.

    Who knew?

And because not sleeping had become such an emotionally charged experience in my life, my brain learned to amplify every thought, sensation, and scenario around that exact thing.

In this episode, I break down the neuroscience behind focus and explain why insomnia can feel so all-consuming.

    Tune in to learn:

    • Why focus isn’t always something you choose
    • How the brain’s filtering system determines what dominates your awareness
    • Why sleep starts to feel urgent and impossible during insomnia
    • How meaning shapes attention
    • Why lasting change comes from new perspectives

If sleep has taken over your thoughts, your days, or your sense of safety in the world, this episode will help you understand WHY, and gently point you in a new direction forward.

    Enjoy!

  • Why You Get Wired at Bedtime (Encore) | Ep 67
    Jan 15 2026

In this encore episode, I dive into the surprising reason your brain won’t let you sleep at night, even when nothing is actually wrong.

    You’ll learn:

    • Why insomnia is rooted in survival, not broken sleep
    • How wakefulness becomes linked with fear
    • The role hyperarousal plays in keeping the cycle alive
    • The difference between real danger and perceived threat
    • Why trying to fix sleep often backfires
    • How understanding the brain supports real, lasting recovery

This conversation reveals how perceived danger, not wakefulness itself, keeps insomnia going, and how neuroplasticity allows the brain to unlearn fear and return to sleep naturally.

  • How Carlos Got His Life Back from Insomnia | Ep 66
    Jan 1 2026

In this deeply relatable episode, Carlos shares his honest journey through insomnia.

After years of overthinking and long sleep onset, a period of intense work stress pushed his nervous system into full-blown survival mode, and not sleeping became something his brain perceived as a threat.

Like so many others, Carlos did what we're told to do: CBT-I, sleep restriction, breathing exercises, supplements, medications, and constant sleep monitoring — only to find that the harder he tried, the worse it got.

In this conversation, Beth and Carlos explore the deeper truth behind insomnia:

Sleep isn’t something you need to produce. It’s something the body does naturally all on its own.

Tune in for hope, validation, and a new way of understanding insomnia recovery.
