The Orlando Magic have had a strong game and a struggling game in the first two of their four preseason games. They have shown how their offense can evolve and the team can take the next step. But they have also left plenty on the board.

The team has yet to see the whole picture come together. Several key players are still missing in action due to minor injuries. Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner have yet to fully assert themselves.

With just two preseason games remaining, there is still work to do.

The most immediate concern is clearly getting Banchero's shooting back on track. While he is getting to the foul line and playing quicker, he has struggled to make shots in a significant way.

On the bright side, the Magic are taking more threes and increasing their 3-point volume and quality looks seems to be a major emphasis. The preseason games have been a test of spacing more than anything else.

Orlando is still working toward being regular-season ready.

The Orlando Magic tipped off their training camp with a spirited and intense practice on Tuesday. Everyone seems eager to get things started and spell out who this team will be.

The first official day helped set the team's identity and the basics of what the team will do. It also showed how intentional and direct Sweeney and his staff will be. Everyone has a better sense of what a Sweeney team will be.

The players have given hints of the kind of defense and offense the team will play. Everyone is expecting the Magic to play faster and with more motion. Everyone is expecting a lot more structure in the team's philosophies.

How that will actually play out and who can break out will be the questions the team will answer throughout training camp.

The Orlando Magic enter a pivotal season with plenty of continuity. The team brought back virtually the same roster that finished last season in the most disappointing fashion.

But the team promises that things will be different this year.

It is not merely the new coach, Sean Sweeney, promising a more intentional and purposeful direction for this team. It is a new approach where the team is more serious about what it will take to win and the details necessary to win. Orlando is hoping a more mature and purposeful approach delivers the results that have eluded the team the last few seasons.
