While Roger Corman's technicolor movies of the early 1960s defined Poe cinematic Poe for generations, many Poe fans are also aware of the 1960 Danzigers-produced The Tell-Tale Heart (1960) in shadowy black and white, with throbbing drum dominating its soundtrack. But did you know there is also much earlier, and much more faithful feature film version of the same story, one which focuses on the protagonist's delusions and the tragically motiveless murder?
