  • How the Brain Rebuilds
    Nov 8 2025
Episode 21: What success in mental health looks like on Functional MRI machine images of the brain. The "clean-up and repair" cells in the brain use Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor to repair and rebuild new nerve growth in the Central Nervous System. See Figure 1 below from an except from my first book with these images of what the hippocampus looks like before and after treatment. This area of the brain is like a muscle and can be strengthened with new nerve growth, something we were told wasn't possible when my Class of 2007 entered U.T. Houston Medical School. The Healer Protein: BDNF Excerpt, Combat PTSD in America: Toward a Permanent Solution (2016) How we Increase BDNF Several things increased human BDNF and most of them are lifestyle related. The area of your brain where this is most impactful is an area called the hippocampus. Unfortunately, this is your resilience center, responsible for coping with stress and incorporating new memories into your long-term memory. If you become overwhelmed with life, PTSD or develop clinical depression, you can lose so many neuron connections in the hippocampus that it will shrink. https://vimeo.com/1133014538?share=copy&fl=sv&fe=ci Download and Share the Ambassador Slides HANDOUT. Here are some of the known ways to increase BDNF: Meditation. Slowing down, taking time for yourself can help. Eating more fruit. I recommend eating as close to an unprocessed, anti-inflammatory diet as possible (Books: Paleo Diet, Wheat Belly). Weight lifting. Fatiguing muscles to the point they are tired with exercise is known to increase BDNF. It also causes the brain to release Growth Hormone at night which is associated with improved sleep. Talk therapy. Cognitive behavioral therapy alone, without medications, has been shownto treat PTSD and increase BDNF levels. Antidepressant medications. Serotonin and Serotonin/Norepinephrine (adrenaline)-related antidepressant medications increase BDNF and are shown to improve PTSD, depression and anxiety. Social connection. Whether it’s work, school, church or volunteer service, establishing a routine with friendly, social interaction is also helpful Buy the Book Notice the subtitle, "toward a permanent solution". • Vegetable oil is more dangerous than sugar and fat
    Nov 5 2025
Episode 20. Please support the Cure AMD Foundation (Age-Related Macular Degeneration). Prepare Your Own Food Vegetable oil and seed oils have toxic levels of omega-6. While proclaiming the virtues of omega-3 fatty acids, we crossed over the recommended 2% consumption of dietary vegetable oils a long time ago. Restaurants, processed foods, and the fast-food industry pumps the world full of it. We trusted the food we brought into our homes only to later discover that cancer, obesity, diabetes and macular degeneration blindness are all extremely strongly associated with vegetable oil. For this reason, vegetable oil is one of my Top 9 Neurotoxins in the Food and Water Supply back from episode 4 on November 20, 2024. Obesity, Diabetes, and Chronic Disease: Is it the Sugar, 'Carbs', Vegetable Oils, or All Three? What if feeling better from "diet and exercise" inadvertently caused you to avoid vegetable oils, BPA plastic, PFAS forever chemicals, and other neurotoxins? I think that may be part of the reason detoxes and diets help us feel better within a week even though our bodies are laden with toxins for years. If it is the vegetable oil that's causing us to be addicted to different foods, it would really throw off controlled studies. It turns out that the vegetable oil we’re eating is controlling our brain chemistry in many ways. Phytoestrogens are in vegetable oils we eat.1 Estradiol affects dopamine (addiction, memory, learning), serotonin (mood) and glutamate systems (excitatory stimulation).2 Estradiol specifically effects the dopamine transporter apparatus within cells.3 Obesity, diabetes, cancer, and age-related macular degeneration (blindness) are all strongly implicated in the YouTube video posted below. https://vimeo.com/1132880360?share=copy&fl=sv&fe=ci Download and Share the Ambassador Slides HANDOUT. We get a rush of all types of neurochemistry when we take a bite of fast food, frozen foods, restaurant foods that is enough to cause a change in behavior. Taken together, these would cause addiction-reward from eating it, remove objectivity from learning about how food impacts our bodies. We are getting a “dopamine hit” from the vegetable oil alone – even if the food is otherwise healthy for human consumption. Sadly, the largest health correlations impact is on the reproductive centers, breast cancer, menopause, perimenopause, and perhaps the future of human civilization itself. Scary Waters The same estrogenic properties in the food are present in public, aquatic environments so controlling our dietary intake is crucial to lowering our risk of disease.4 Opioids and other drugs wash off the property into wastewater and creeks, tributaries, lakes and rivers.5 Antidepressants appear in the very Rhine River in Germany that I used to visit when I was stationed there in the Army in the 1990’s.6 Genes encoded with antimicrobial resistance await you in open waters in Canada.7 “One hundred-eighteen pharmaceuticals determined in drinking water samples from 25 U.S. treatment plants.”8 These included carbamazepine, bupropion, cotinine, metoprolol, and lithium most predominantly.8 Chris A. Knobbe, MD In 2017, Dr. Chris Knobbe left his ophthamology practice to start the Cure AMD Foundation. Age-Related Macular Degeneration is a Westernized disease. He gives a great presentation about it making the case definitive that vegetable oil is more dangerous than sugar and fat. https://youtu.be/-te509vqnFs?si=BgIMAYONBJE822Cn Restaurants, fast food, and processed food at grocery stores are overloaded with vegetable oils. Some foods have vegetable oils, but it's supposed to be less than 2% of the total diet to be healthy. Therefore, cooking for yourself is unavoidable to protect your brain, body, and health. It should come as no surprise that the Communists at Harvard University would allow the ongoing recommendation of neurotoxic, carcinogenic,

  • Don’t Take all Memory Loss, Seriously
    Nov 2 2025
Episode 19. Have your "senior moments" assessed on an objective scale, while they are still mild. Don't put up with it or minimize it. Many causes are reversible. Don't wait! Each memory is a neuron connection. You have been exposed to thousands of toxins unless you’ve filtered your water and prepared your own food your entire life. A 20-minute screening test from Canada, the home of modern Functional Medicine, has a good base of scientific evidence in detecting and monitoring subtle changes in memory loss or gain.1 I got certified in the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) because the company behind it has really done their due diligence to get all of the feedback you would ever want from the scientific community.2 Book A MoCA Test now Book your appointment today. Your cognitive decline may be recoverable and will be an important part of your customized Mindshift Plan. The customization part of your Mindshift Plan can not be overemphasized here because the MoCA test has been validated in psychosis, mood disorders with electroconvulsive therapy, late-life Bipolar Disorder and Geriatric Psychiatry.3-6 Folks, these disorders are made much worse with memory loss, often culminating into a clinical picture involving extreme emotional experiences because of their lifelong accumulation of quantum drag leading to a simultaneous Accumulation Stress Injury. https://vimeo.com/1132870234 Download and Share the Ambassador Slides HANDOUT. Glymphatic System Washes Your Brain if you Sleep Our brains have a washing cycle at night. Once per minute, a small amount of adrenaline causes a small arteriole squeeze all the way through the brain.7 This creates a small amount of space around the vessels for interstitial fluid to be moved and absorbed by the cranial veins. If the Glymphatic System is interfered with that we get a build-up of amyloid proteins that are toxic to the brain – and associated with Alzheimer’s Dementia. It appears that some anti-histamines are anti-cholinergic and these mechanisms stop the Glymphatic System. The over-the-counter shelves are full of antihistamines.8 Too bad sleep medications shut it down… Some anti-histamines are anti-cholinergic also, but no one is really studying which of all these anti-histamines are ultimately neurotoxic. It would take decades and thousands or lab rats for us to catch up to this threat. From allergy pills to sleeping age, the entire world is consuming this stuff and no one realizes the risk. Do you want to research this question? Join me on a Research Mastermind Group. Our brains collect lots of exogenous toxins (outside the body) that we absorb from our environment and consume in food and water. We lack the laboratory and animal model studies to show causality, but all of these toxins act the same on humans: estrogenic, neurotoxic, carcinogenic, and anti-fertility. Here are some cutting-edge research ideas for those that would like to go to graduate school on these topics: BPA plastic in the brain is associated with a 10-fold risk in dementia.9 Tramadol is a weak opioid pain-killer associated with dementia.10 More than 2,500 medications are associated with dementia.11 Dementia MedicationsDownload The prevalence of pollution, autism, ADHD, depression and cognitive slowing has garnered more attention in recent years. My experience in Springfield, MO opened my eyes to see the connection between contaminated water and a flood of ADHD patients with high cholesterol, low vitamin D, and a lot more thyroid disease than should have been expected. It turns out the PFAS epidemic has thousands of locations. Toxic Exposures Hasten Dementia It turns out that if people actually study it, there's laboratory evidence showing dementia in rats with toxic exposures. Episode 14 Proof Agent Orange Causes Dementia discusses the fact that it took from 1961 until 2024 for researchers to actually study it. Is this a lack of science?

  • C.A.M. for Sex & Love Addiction, Persistent Genital Arousal Syndrome and Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder
    Oct 30 2025
Episode 18: Part 2/2. See the commonalities in treatment approach to all things sexual, including mainstream and Complimentary and Alternative Medicine (C.A.M.). Part 1 in this series is here. What do these 4 have in common? Persistent Genital Arousal Syndrome, Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder, Sex & Love Addiction Whether you never want to have sex at all, have unwanted orgasms, pain during orgasm or sex addiction, most of these start under similar conditions. There is typically some combination of unhealthy male:female energy and sexual trauma during development, linking the two. They are actually separate things as previously discussed in Episode 17 and can be separated with a Mindshift. If that sounds like you, book an ancient male:female healing, read a couple of books, and visit a support groups to overcome anything and set any goal. If I can help, don't hesitate to contact me. https://vimeo.com/1130421270?share=copy&fl=sv&fe=ci Download & Share the Ambassador Slides HANDOUT. Keep in mind, the male brain doesn't fully develop until age 33 and the female brain at age 25. Therefore, your sexual development is technically still continuing until the brain is fully mature. Of course, the younger you are when you have trauma, Adverse Childhood Event (ACE), the more the subconscious absorbed all of that energy and is carrying it forward. Fortunately, the brain can be rewired and you can learn to do it yourself. That is what a customized Mindshift Plan is all about. Sex and Love Addiction Yes, Sex and Love Addiction are two different things that often run together. For that reason there are separate 12-Step fellowships for each one: Sex Addicts Anonymous and Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous. I recommend reading the small text book for the one that fits best first. Contacting local meetings isn't highly publicized due to the anonymity, so you'll first have to actually call or email the local contact to explain you're interested in a meeting and you're not from the media. What get's missed often times is the Love Addiction. This is an addiction to intrigue, that exciting feeling you get when you first make eye with someone or think early-on in relationships that it's a fairy tale romance. Romance and the pursuit of the "new and exciting" creates the same chemical addiction to dopamine in the brain as crack cocaine, and plenty of adrenaline flows during flirtation. The body gets excited at merely the thought of the future with someone still unknown. By way of disclosure, I got clean and sober at the age of 19 myself and was exposed to 12 Steps and fellowship throughout my younger years. My training helped validate what I already knew, that the 12 Steps are still the #1 most effective approach to addiction - but our culture attacks humility, which is direly needed in recovery. For some, the strings of conformity are just too strong to muster the courage to heal and change yourself, darkening the doorway to a sexual support group and availing yourself freely of the help as if your life depends on it. You can change. https://www.amazon.com/Dont-Call-Love-Recovery-Addiction/dp/0553351389/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&sr=1-1 Mainstream Treatment for Sexual Addiction Psychotherapy is always recommended because it had yielded amazing results in so many. Intensive Outpatient Programs are helpful for long-term lifestyle change. Mainstream treatment for sexual addiction is sparse, but making an appointment for symptomatic control and general mental health in early recovery can still be very grounding. Mood stabilizers sometimes help with impulsive decisions and mood swings that predispose addicts toward an impulsive relapse. I've seen naltrexone help with cravings for alcohol, gambling, opioid addiction, and unhealthy sexual impulses . Smart Recovery Nowadays, there are two other fellowship options besides the hundreds of 12 Step groups for various addictions: Smart Recovery and Celebrate Reco...

  • Healing Male:Female Energy (not sexual)
    Oct 27 2025
Episode 17: Part 1/2. Learn what male:female energy is, if it's not sexual, and to seamlessly balance your own. This is Part 1 of a 2-Part Series. Different variations of Male:Female Energy Healing have been a part of ancient civilization and are still taught today in the Basic Training class of One Light Healing Touch (OLHT). I'm repeating the January 2026 class - join me! What is Male:Female Energy (masculine/feminine)? Energy is not sexual, per se. Rather, masculine, male energy has been thought of for millennia as an aggressive or forceful mindset use to typically deal with challenges and threats that face the family. Feminine energy is thought of, in this context, as nurturing within the family unit. The male and female energy exist in both genders, and is not sexual in nature. We are separating out self-care and lovingkindness as a pure and ancient form of energy. This feminine nature is absent entirely from a John Wayne mentality. While there is a place to be tough and "rub some dirt on it", I've learned to see it the way of the Native Americans. The lack of nurturing and self-care accelerates aging, increases suffering, and quickens the introduction of physical and mental deterioration. https://vimeo.com/1129665794 Download and Share the Ambassador Slides HANDOUT. I learned an interesting fact in the Basic Training class of OLHT is that in 1851 multiple native tribes agreed that it was time that they shared feedback to the white man on the male:female energy imbalances they observed since their arrival. Fourteen years later, were were in Civil War. The Ancient Male:Female Healing One of the more than 30 healing techniques taught in OLHT Basic Training was the ancient Male:Female Healing. I was the only male in the group, some please let's get some more guys to join the January 2026 class. It turns out that this technique was very popular and I witnessed remarkable transformations. There is nothing sexual about it, though a strong, healthy, opposite-sex energy may awaken one's desire to date again. I was convinced to add a couples or dating feature to the classes/healing/offering - stay tuned for upcoming registration dates on the Mindshift Calendar. Who Cares? In trauma, the ancients have always said that your chi gets scattered. Your life force energy receives a disruption in its signaling. Acupuncturists have been opening these "energy channels" for three thousand years.1 The energy of the trauma, I view as body memory, is the subconscious mind that is magnifying all of your emotions 10-fold. That is why I recommend a body release technique in my approach to healing the Mind-Body-Spirit. An ancient Male:Female Healing can be incorporated into your customized Mindshift Plan and mingles well with other holistic approaches. Complimentary and Alternative Medicine for Sexual Disorder The positive feedback from my healthy, male energy (unselfish) led me to write a protocol that works for four different sexual disorders. The protocol negates the need for risky or dangerous tantric therapy approaches out there and allows the client to simply "feel" the presence of the healthy opposite-sex energy. Normal standard of care for psychiatric practices is upheld in which the client feels free to discuss taboo or hidden sexual thoughts that are problematic. Stay tuned for Episode 18: C.A.M. for Sex & Love Addiction, Persistent Genital Arousal Syndrome and Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder. 1 Hao JJ, Mittelman M. Acupuncture: past, present, and future. • Creative Visualization versus Worshiping an Image
    Oct 24 2025
Episode 16: Understand how toxic culture programs the subconscious mind and gaslights it. Gerald Epstein, MD No discussion of Creative Visualization would be complete without a discussion of the incredible contribution by the late Gerald Epstein, MD. He was a psychiatrist that studied under a visualization healer in Israel for 9 years and used it to heal all sorts of things in psychiatry. A mental picture, it turns out, is a part of how we record long-term, emotional memories. These involve the amygdala and, as previously discussed, the electromagnetic body memories involved in flashbacks. The mental picture appears to be key in both unlocking the stuck, trapped emotion event as it's held in the body, AND available for clearing during body work sessions. https://vimeo.com/1129312070 Download & Share the Ambassador Slides HANDOUT. Visualization is also involved in planning the future, imagination, creativity, problem-solving and keeping yourself patient while you're waiting for something to unfold in the future. If you consume news and entertainment, the subliminal messages they're giving you are the visual images that you're internalizing into your subconscious. If you don't know how to clear it, or spend enough time in a release practice, this could feed further nightmares after watching a movie. Therefore, if you consume 3-5 hours of news and entertainment then their script is writing the script for the visual images in your head for a substantial part of your waking hours. The time wasted has opportunity cost, further reducing the time to have original thoughts and images you create. https://www.amazon.com/dp/1883148103/ref=mes-dp?_encoding=UTF8 When Fanaticism Turns to Worship The sheer number of hour spent being entertained are concerning, when you consider the importance of internalized, mental pictures. Staunch resistance to change the media-consuming lifestyle sometimes borders on religious zealotry. I know of entire families that never spend anytime in free thought. If there were evil powers behind the curtains, pulling the strings of subconscious messaging in the media... Well, let's just say it appears that the news emphasizes negativity, false politics, and trauma to control the people's feelings that just emotionally obey because they have so trained themselves to follow. https://www.amazon.com/Healing-Visualizations-Creating-Through-1997-01-31/dp/B017MYQFW8

  • Polypharmacy In Mainstream Medicine
    Oct 21 2025
Episode 15: Download and Share my Cheat-Sheet for Mixing Dangerous Prescription Medications. Polypharmacy is a term used to describe the interaction of multiple medications with increased risk of adverse outcomes including disability and death. The most commonly reported definition of polypharmacy was the numerical definition of five or more medications daily (n = 51, 46.4% of articles), with definitions ranging from two or more to 11 or more medicines1. Each class of medication carries different risks that can be additive and potentiate adverse events. Two Hundred Thousand – 400,000 people don’t die every year due to medical mistakes globally. Pressure from the US government led doctors to drastically cut back the use of opiates in the past several years. The next target is Benzodiazepines sometimes still necessary for relief of severe anxiety, at least until someone decides to start achieving Physical, Mental, Spiritual and Emotional balance. https://vimeo.com/1129164156?share=copy&fl=sv&fe=ci Download & Share the Ambassador Slides Handout. The standard of care for anxiety disorders The standard of care for anxiety disorders is psychotherapy and an antidepressant. Medications such as benzodiazepine-related (alprazolam, diazepam, lorazepam, clonazepam, zolpidem, etc.), gabapentin, propranolol, hydroxyzine and buspirone are frequently used off-label for breakthrough anxiety or panic episodes. Also, chronic insomnia is best treated with a specific protocol for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I). Primary care prescribe approximately 90% of all psychiatric medications in the U.S.A., but they take a symptom-based approach to make the anxiety temporarily abate. In psychiatry, the goal is to overcome the emotional dysregulation and improve resiliency for future stressors. Chronic benzodiazepine use no longer has a place in the psychiatric standards of treatment. The risks of dementia, IQ point loss, insomnia, prolonged PTSD, chronic anxiety, dependency, risk of death, and avoidance of psychotherapy outweigh the temporary benefits of this class of nervous system depressants. Below is a list of contraindications (Do Not Mix) and summary of class-specific side effects in attempt to prevent harm, originally published as an excerpt from Clinical Handbook for Psychiatric Urgent Care in the USA, Daniel M. Williams, M.D., P.A. List of common side effects in acute settings of polypharmacy. This is what your doctor is worried about: Why We Fight Alcohol: Active alcohol use is a risk factor for medication adverse events. Combining medications with alcohol can result in respiratory depression, failure to maintain a secure airway, aspiration pneumonia, respiratory failure, coma and death. Benzodiazepines: Work on the GABA receptors just like alcohol. As such, they kill brain cells and are associated with insomnia, doubling the risk of dementia at any age, cognitive loss, persistent anxiety, physical and psychological dependence, and addiction. Examples: Ativan (lorazepam), Klonopin (clonazepam), Valium (diazepam), Xanax (alprazolam), Ambien (zolpidem), Temazepam, Oxazepam, Zaleplon. Benzodiazepines handoutDownload Buprenorphine: Subutex contains only buprenorphine but Suboxone contains naloxone in addition to buprenorphine (naloxone helps protect people from an inadvertent opioid overdose). So long as there is naloxone present, there is practically no abuse potential, but it makes no sense to take it with a bunch of other controlled substances. I've seen people take full opiates in the parking lot and walk-in to start the buprenorphine induction protocol. Subutex is a sublingual tablet and Suboxone is a film that you put under your tongue. Subutex was approved in 1981 and Suboxone has been available since 2002. Both Subutex and Suboxone can be initiated early by a doctor as part of an opioid treatment program. The brand name Subutex has been discontinued in the...

  • Proof Agent Orange Causes Dementia
    Oct 16 2025
Episode 14: Download the Independent Medical Opinion letter that started it all (hopefully). Make a VA Disability Claim Application Tracker (one-page) Book a C&P Exam I recently had the experience of doing an evaluation on a Vietnam veteran who had been exposed to Agent Orange. Since 1993, the VA Secretary has declared that there is no link between Agent Orange and the subsequent development of dementia. In the past two years, all that has changed. https://vimeo.com/1128135250?share=copy&fl=sv&fe=ci Download and Share the Ambassador Slides HANDOUT. I just have to say, Thank a Vietnam Veteran TODAY The entire world owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to our Vietnam Veterans, not only for suffering the way the did and continue to, but for advancing mental health care with the advent of the PTSD diagnosis in 1980. My family got involved because my father brought Vietnam home with him too. I like to say my little brother and I were Sons of Rambo, but my life experience led me to a completely different way to look at the whole problem. Flashbacks are electromagnetic waves in the body. Dozens of ancient, and several modern, techniques address the EMF wave without talking about trauma or pain at all. I believe energy healing returns us to our ancestral roots and God, in His infinite grace and lovingkindness, has provided a way for all peoples to find relief through different forms of medicine and healing. That's why Mindshift Care blends modern PTSD care with the much more effective ancient techniques that are Complementary and Alternative Medicine options for self-care. So, now I can help you, pray for you, and watch you release the residue from the body that is the real problem-magnifier. // MAJ (fmr) Daniel M. Williams, M.D., P.A. The toxic shame-culture still abounds at every step and every layer of the Matrix. So when you do VA Disability Evaluations, sometimes you get push-back on your reports. It's usually a previously written rebuttal paragraph, like this one. Notice how they address a board-certified psychiatrist of 10 years that believes neurotoxins kill brain cells - they said my report had "deficiencies". What I really wanted to say, instead of this IMO letter below, is "You're copy/pasting a 'deficiency' reply into the official VA disability claim from a veteran who was drafted, had nerve agent dumped on top of him from American aircraft, and was spit upon when he returned home to a country with several cities burning in protest fires. No, my report did not have deficiencies. You're part of a corrupt system that has been denying these claims since Agent Orange's first test spray in Vietnam on August 10, 1961. Signed, MAJ (fmr) Daniel. M. Williams, M.D., P.A., former 36th Infantry Division Psychiatrist." Here's what the VA said when I concluded Agent Orange caused Dementia "Please have the previous examiner address the deficiencies with the examination he or she conducted on the Veteran. Neurobehavioral disorders (cognitive and neuropsychiatric) have been determined by the Secretary, based on cumulative scientific data reported by the National Academies of Science since 1993, to have no positive association with herbicide exposure. Dementia is classified as a neurobehavioral disorder, encompassing both cognitive and neuropsychiatric components. You indicated that "the rationale is the veteran was exposed to Herbicide Agent TCDD while the Veteran served in Vietnam. This has been associated with the subsequent development of dementia." However, this rationale is not sufficient in this case. The rationale must: 1. Cite any general medical principles used to support the opinion. 2. Identify pertinent medical evidence and case-specific information relied on to support the opinion. 3. Demonstrate how the opinion was formulated. 4. Include supportive arguments for any opinions rendered or conclusions reached, with an analysis that can be considered when weighing con...
