Keefy sits down with David Leaf, author of SMiLE: The Rise, Fall and Resurrection of Brian Wilson, to explore the full story behind one of the most mythologized albums in music history.

The book is a detailed oral history of The Beach Boys’ unfinished masterpiece SMiLE, tracing its creation in the 1960s, its collapse and abandonment, and its eventual revival in the 2000s through live performances and a completed recording.

Using a “fly on the wall” approach, David draws from interviews with Brian Wilson, Van Dyke Parks, band members, collaborators, and fans, combining firsthand accounts with essays to document the album’s cultural impact and Brian Wilson’s personal journey.
