  • Ep. 16: Juvenile Justice and Youth Services

    We’re back with our longest episode to date!


    In this jam packed episode, Sara and Kaycee have the privilege to sit down with a team from Juvenile Justice and Youth Services (JJYS). Damon, Mark, and Amanda work hard in the TriCounty area assisting not only juveniles, but their families when a crisis may start to arise. They recognize the importance of intervention and team work when youth are first struggling, but also when they are in need the most.

    Damon gives an overview of the various programs offered and the process that families can take to get involved with JJYS. Mark talks about the Strengthening Families Program (SFP), and the importance of good family communication. We hear about Girls’ Circle from Amanda, and her dedication to providing girls a safe space and community to express their feelings and feel supported.

Lindsey shares with listeners what being a Victim Advocate is, and offers special insight into what services are available for victims who are going through a crisis. She shares the process of how her office can help people experiencing sexual assault, domestic violence, and other traumatic events, and how they can help people walk through legal processes while giving them the resources they need.

  • Ep. 11: Making Proud Choices

    In this episode, Sara and Kaycee sit down with Aislynn, a Health Educator at TriCounty Health Department, to discuss the sexual education course Making Proud Choices. Making Proud Choices is a curriculum that provides teens and young adults with the knowledge, confidence and skills necessary to reduce their risk of sexually transmitted diseases (STIs), HIV and pregnancy by abstaining from sex or using condoms if they choose to have sex. This course also encourages healthy communication and the importance of building strong communication in relationships. Aislynn goes over an example of one of the discussion prompts and gives examples of different discussion topics throughout the course.
