 Policing in the Classic City is dynamic, challenging, and rewarding. Using our Real Time Crime Center, we located a sleepwalking student roaming the streets in the early morning hours. Our chief works hand in hand with the director of a local outreach service, but once went hand to hand with him in the streets of Athens, Georgia. As one of the first agencies to establish a Behavioral Health Unit, our officers discuss the challenges and rewards of working with individuals facing mental health challenges.
