Description
Steve wakes up one morning after a horrible couple of weeks in which he's lost his girlfriend, his job, his savings, and the majority of his self-respect. Dragging himself out of bed, he sleepily wanders over to the window with a warm bottled water and a handful of Advil. Looking out of his apartment window, he sees people running around crazily and a bunch of burning shrubbery. He decides to go back to sleep and see if it all goes away. When he wakes up the next time, it turns out the view from his fourth floor apartment wasn't a nightmare. Armed with a blunt samurai sword and some stolen steak knives, he ventures out into the fray.
These aren't your standard zombies, but Steve isn't your standard zombie fighter, either. Join him in book one as he heads out to check on his parents and tries to survive in a world that's gone crazy....

The Walking Blue!
These zombies were a bit odd, their skin was blue-tinted; perhaps they were cold. Strangely, they didn’t smell their prey either. Our protagonist Steve wakes at the dawn of the apocalypse. Grabbing an old dull katana off the wall he heads out the door to find out what’s going on. Steve intends to head to Tennesse to check on his parents but apparently, this will take some time as this is the first volume of a six-book series. This reads like a YA novel; not too bad, not too thrilling. Three.point.five. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Dumb
I hate zombie books where the people are plain stupid and no sense of self preservation !!! One of the characters was bitten by a child zombie because he looked like his nephew and he didn’t want to kill him unbelievable !!! So I’m returning the book so I don’t waste a credit.

Another great Steve
Seems like a lot of ‘every guy’ zombie book characters are named Steve. This is not a complaint just an observation.. I know a lot of great guys named Steve!
Fast paced & doesn’t slow down. Steve keeps being lucky in the survival game. Hope that luck holds up in the next books.
Really enjoyed his foibles and mistakes. Even some of his mistakes turn out well. So far I’m loving the series but I will say the cover is not the best choice for this book. I’d definitely have gone with a different image. It’s a bit misleading as it makes the story seems like it will be something it’s not.
Great narration by Nicholas Cain.

Basic, silly
Ok. Silliness definitely geared towards younger readers, but not awful.
I don’t mind the simplicity. I would have rather borrowed it than purchased it.

Shush don’t make a noise
This is a story of other things take a bump in the night. Excitement, fleeing people from zombies, apocalyptic enjoyment. This book keeps you on edge makes you want to turn the next page makes you want to listen a second time to the story of The zombie apocalypse is coming to you. The ending was kind of weird that’s so is the story.

UGHHHH....
I was so into this book that it was upsetting that it ended! As a 'zombie' book, this had some new ideas and some interesting people. I really like the way it is told from the journal perspective. And, for the record, I know people have to die, but why do the authors have to get us so attached to the characters and then kill them off?? lol I get it...really I do.
I listened to the audio book version of this book. Nicholas Cain tells a good story. He 'repeated' a few times where he may have been correcting some parts and didn't delete, but, all in all, I really enjoyed his narration.
Where is my book 2 audiobook???
