Description

The time has come for Leman Russ, primarch of the Space Wolves, to fulfil his vow and attempt to stop Warmaster Horus before he breaks through to the Segmentum Solar.

In the face of opposition from three of his brother primarchs, Russ withdraws the Space Wolves legion from Terra and makes all haste for Horus’ position. Reports from Malcador the Sigillite’s agents suggest that Horus is utterly changed and infused with a diabolical power so great that no man can stand against him. A warrior of Fenris would never willingly abandon his oaths, but with Horus beyond the touch of mortal blades, the Lord of Winter and War may have doomed himself for the sake of honour....

Russ is a lovable idiot.

i liked it but the main flaw was that it sought to explain the rational of a stupid decision...

Fenris Hjolda!!!

The story is great. Russ is an amazing character and this book gives a deeper look into Russ, Horus and their relationship with the Emperor. I really enjoyed it and would suggest it for any Space Wolf fan.

Holy Sh*t this is what the HH needed!

I slept on Guy Haley and never gave him a chance when reading from the BL. This man launched the story forward and somehow did it with dignity and gore. Grounded characters brought to life by the fabulous Jonathan Keeble. If you've been bored away from the HH this will motivate you to jump back into fight.

Fantastic Book

Answers a lot of questions about what the Space Wolves we’re doing leading up to the battle for Terra. It presents a nice middle ground that fans of both the Luna and Space Wolves would like for their legions.

Best for Vlka Fenryka

Burning of Prospero was ok compared to this great tale of the Vlka Fenryka. It takes place soon after Prospero and the story focuses on a few specific Wolves but mostly a side to Russ that is necessary to truly understand the honor of the Legion. A lack of action in the first half is made up by the multitude of important characters from other novels. The action of the second half is very exciting and well written.

Stunned

Prior to this book I had deceloped a growing distaste for the Space Wolves. The Vilka Fenrika certainly changed that during this book. This book will not disappoint and as always the narration by Keeble is some of the best around.

By Far The Best

By far the best best HH novel I’ve heard! Keeble really brings these characters life plus this story made sense of a lot of questions I had. Thank you.

Must read for fans of the Rout

Space Wolves fans will really get a kick out of this one. Guy Haley ties together some of the oldest Black Library novels with the Horus heresy here. Big fan of his work and hoping to see more from him!

For fans of the grim darkness of the 41st millennium

From the perspective of a Warhammer 40,000 Fan, this is an awesome novel. However, it lacks the typical introduction of the setting, its specific terms, the characters and its names. Hence, it can get confusing when unfamiliar with these. Even if one knows quite a bit of the Warhammer universe (like me), it is sometimes hard to comprehend. Probably it is better to start exploring the Horus Heresy after knowing the events and people involved in the Great Crusade.
