An enthralling mix of whodunnit, courtroom, drama and workplace comedy, which other authors might have seen as job done. Yet Cavanagh ... also gives Ruby her own storyline and lays on a fun, Coenesque subplot about rival hitmen competing to bump off Eddie, further enriching an already multilayered legal thriller.

A legal thriller at its very best. Cavanagh weaves mischief and mayhem with every intricate twist of this fantastic plot.
An epic legal drama
Cavanagh is able to inject new life into the familiar tropes of the thriller genre. He also knows that like any movie or song worth its salt, a book needs a good opening to hook the audience in, and Witness 8 has a great one ... The only drawback of Witness 8 is how quickly you'll fly through it and then be left impatiently awaiting Flynn's next outing.
Steve Cavanagh has made a thoroughly appealing character our of Eddie and it is impossible not to root for him, whatever he does. The ingenuity of the lawyer's planning and the skill with which he executes his scemes are among the highlights of this fast-moving, funny, touching and occasionally horrifying tale. Cavanagh writes with a light hand and a quick wit.
