    This isn't one of those common witch stories. Plot gets better and more interesting as you progress through the books and unusual characters are introduced. There's more magic in Books 2 and 3. Book 1 dwells more on the crime-solving portion of the story.

    I don't know if it's just me or if the narrator did an "accented" narration for the female lead. Anyway, I wasn't a fan of it; I almost gave up on the series. The male lead's POV seems normal (in the later book). Or, maybe I'd just gotten used to the narration style.

    Overall, not bad.
