Description

After discovering just how filled with magic, intrigue, and adventure the parahuman world of being an undead American can be, Fredrick Frankford Fletcher did exactly what was expected - he became a certified parahuman accountant. Myths and legends, as it turns out, are not so great at taking appropriate deductions and keeping their receipts, and Fred is more than happy to return to a life others view as woefully dull, expanding his accounting business to cater to various monsters and their respective financial needs. Said monsters are, unfortunately, still spectacular at pulling Fred into trouble, though. And despite merely wanting to stick with simple paperwork, Fred once again finds that he is going to have to deal with enchanted weaponry, government agents, possessed houses, and one enigmatic dragon's interest. In the parahuman world, any business can turn deadly, even one as mundane as accounting.

Enjoyable, novel, creative, and fun

If you read enough fantasy, it starts to get repetitive. This series completely shakes up the standard formula while creating loveable characters, and situations that had me stuck in my car in a fit of giggles. The book is made up of several short stories, but I never found this to be an issue.

I have been pushing this book on everyone I know. You would have to be some sort of serious grumpy pants to not enjoy Fred's extraordinary normal way of problem solving in the supernatural world.

Fearless Fred strikes again

Have you listened to any of Kirby Heyborne’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Kirby Heyborne has the perfect voice to be Fred, it's completely how I would imagine it in real life, and

Any additional comments?

I thought this was a lighthearted easy listen. You get to enjoy a new perspective on being a vampire that is less scandalized then the usual way they are portrayed. The only problem that I really had with this story, was that each story started by reiterating the same information (i.e. how he's now a vampire, and an accountant). This allows each story to stand alone, but is slightly less appealing when listening to them all consecutively.

Monstrous fun. Better than the first.

The character's are still great, and the story telling is better. The subtle humor is always fun.

if you are reading this as a review of a stand alone book, well it's funny, it's cute, it's fun to listen to, and the narration is perfect for the main character.

Fun Characters, disjointed writing style,

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the content of this book; however, at times it seemed as if the book was being written as episodes of a TV show with unnecessary redundancies and sort of disconnected events. Overall, I will complete this series due to the enjoyable nature of the characters, dialogue, and unique story arc. The performer does a good job of giving a voice to a plethora of characters, although sometimes it comes across a bit overzealous.

Such a Fun Listen!

Hayes and Heyborne are a grand author/narrator team. The story line from book 1 flows well into book 2. The characters continue to develop realistically (or as realistically as any character can in a fantasy). I have enjoyed the series thus far and feel like my money's been well spent, as I can see myself going back and re-listening.

One of the best fiction/fantasy series...

So much of science fiction/fantasy is dark, foreboding and just downright depressing. The Fred the Vampire series is uplifting an delightful and it remains true to the genre. Get it. R was it. R worst.
