Description
After discovering just how filled with magic, intrigue, and adventure the parahuman world of being an undead American can be, Fredrick Frankford Fletcher did exactly what was expected - he became a certified parahuman accountant. Myths and legends, as it turns out, are not so great at taking appropriate deductions and keeping their receipts, and Fred is more than happy to return to a life others view as woefully dull, expanding his accounting business to cater to various monsters and their respective financial needs. Said monsters are, unfortunately, still spectacular at pulling Fred into trouble, though. And despite merely wanting to stick with simple paperwork, Fred once again finds that he is going to have to deal with enchanted weaponry, government agents, possessed houses, and one enigmatic dragon's interest. In the parahuman world, any business can turn deadly, even one as mundane as accounting.

Fearless Fred strikes again
Have you listened to any of Kirby Heyborne’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Kirby Heyborne has the perfect voice to be Fred, it's completely how I would imagine it in real life, and
Any additional comments?
I thought this was a lighthearted easy listen. You get to enjoy a new perspective on being a vampire that is less scandalized then the usual way they are portrayed. The only problem that I really had with this story, was that each story started by reiterating the same information (i.e. how he's now a vampire, and an accountant). This allows each story to stand alone, but is slightly less appealing when listening to them all consecutively.

Enjoyable, novel, creative, and fun
If you read enough fantasy, it starts to get repetitive. This series completely shakes up the standard formula while creating loveable characters, and situations that had me stuck in my car in a fit of giggles. The book is made up of several short stories, but I never found this to be an issue.
I have been pushing this book on everyone I know. You would have to be some sort of serious grumpy pants to not enjoy Fred's extraordinary normal way of problem solving in the supernatural world.

I’m obsessed!
I love Fred! And Crystal, Amy, Bubba...what a great quirky fun book to listen to while cleaning, or driving or falling asleep. It’s 12:40am and should be sleeping but I just downloaded #3.

Fun Characters, disjointed writing style,
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed the content of this book; however, at times it seemed as if the book was being written as episodes of a TV show with unnecessary redundancies and sort of disconnected events. Overall, I will complete this series due to the enjoyable nature of the characters, dialogue, and unique story arc. The performer does a good job of giving a voice to a plethora of characters, although sometimes it comes across a bit overzealous.

More Like A Second Season Than A Sequel
If you could sum up Undeath and Taxes in three words, what would they be?
Finally!!! Something!!! Different!!!!!!!
What other book might you compare Undeath and Taxes to and why?
Though all the large number of audio-books I have listen to the only other book I have listen to that is even remotely written like Undeath and Taxes (that is not The Utterly Uninteresting and Unadventurous Tales of Fred, the Vampire Accountant; the previous book) is Mr. Mann: The Afterlife and Times of the Devil's Acquisitor Ad Infinitum.
Both are written more like a season of a mini series that single story. But unlike Mr. Mann which is a dark emotional fantasy that (for me) can only be listened once in a while; Undeath and Taxes is fun paranormal fantasy that can be listen to when ever you feel like you need a quick cheering up.
Which scene was your favorite?
I LOVE THE ENDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It turned what is a mostly fun but episodic series of short stories and turns them in a greater whole not just for this book the the previous book as well.
This has easily become one of my favorite series and I hardly wait for the next installment.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Just like the last installment this is a very funny book.
Having just one-go listened to this one I didn't laugh as hard as likely will when I'm reading it one story at a time. But there are still moments that made me laugh.
Any additional comments?
Simply put this is different.
At the time of this review I have a library of 201 books and have return more than a few books that did not meet my standards.
I have listened to books by well known authors like Jim Butcher, Kim Harrison, Ilona Andrews, Seanan McGuire, Richard Kadrey and Patricia Briggs to newer lesser know authors like Elliott James, Melissa F. Olson, Elliott Kay, Eric Asher and Seth Skorkowsky.
So when I say I know this genre; I KNOW THIS F@#$ING GENRE!!!!! and I can honestly say this is different than most of what makes up said genre.
First and foremost there is Fred. Like a said in my review of the previous book he is a refreshing brake from the cliche vampire badass. He also never becomes some on the spot badass either. Fred is a prefect example of the rare done well "Unlikely Hero"; he is still a coward but when the need arises he will face his fears to help someone simply because it is the right thing to do. So when a character says "your good man Fred" it's not some cliche line said after "insert said hero" has just spent the last few chapters merciless killing or maiming some endless group of underlings.
Then of course there is the writing and how the book is structured. Rather than the normal first-second-third act structured that tend to feel like a long movie or single story; Undeath and Taxes is structured like a season of an episodic "problem of the week" series. It's really not until the end that book starts to become what feels like a larger story.
Another thing this book has that other do not is the subtle character development and complexity. While I do love a book that will dive deeply into a troubled characters past and by the end said character has found some measure of peace; too many authors have done this to death. To see subtle character development and complexity were you only get small glimpses of how a character thinks and how they change is so refreshing.
If you are like me and though you enjoy your action ride urban fantasy but want something different than the norm Undeath and Taxes is a great book you will love to listen to when you want have a good laugh.

A rather fun book and good performance.
"If weilding the sword requires me to clean the toilets truckers use than I'm leaving it here..."
I hear that as I'm sitting at a truck stop, on the toilet, about to get back in my truck.

i love this series
if you are reading this as a review of a stand alone book, well it's funny, it's cute, it's fun to listen to, and the narration is perfect for the main character.
but don't miss the first book. they are all like that.

The end
This book was no where as good as the first . But the ending did a really good job to make up for the stories in this book . Trust me slog through this book or skip to the last 15 minutes of this book and it will make it better . The end was about the only good part of this book.
