Description
Turn to Stone takes place in the days immediately preceding the events of The Cold Nowhere, the sixth audiobook in Freeman's thrilling Jonathan Stride series.
On his way back to Duluth, Stride stops to visit the grave of his mother in a small Wisconsin town. After a shocking occurrence in the cemetery, Stride becomes enmeshed in a gruesome and suspenseful search for a killer who knows things no one else alive should know.
This audiobook from master of suspense Brian Freeman, winner of the International Thriller Writers Award, is not to be missed.

5.5 hour novella?
I'm calling it a novel. I'm a fan of author Brian Freeman and narrator Joe Barrett; both do an excellent job. Freeman tells an excellent story that is filled with the suspense he normally delivers.

PERFECT as a novella
I would love to know the story behind Brian Freeman deciding to make this a novella instead of weaving it into another full novel. Was it something he wrote and it didn't fit in another novel or he just created this as a separate story? Whatever it was, it was EXCELLENT! And it will barely tide me over until his next book is out! I hope Joe Barrett always narrates his books. I can't imagine anyone else in the "role."

Ok story terrible narrator. Enough said.
I got so tired of listening to the narrator. His voice had a very obvious New York type sound and was just over the top to me. Story was okay not great and my opinion

4½ STARS. Very Good Book .
I can't give this book 5 stars but it came close. I absolutely love THE DEEP DEEP SNOW so decided to try another book by BF. Turn to Stone (in my opinion) was not quite as good but found myself spellbound nonetheless. It took me a bit of time to get into the book but shortly found myself captivated.
I actually prefer a novella because I find myself getting impatient if the author goes on and on with every minute detail and I find myself screaming at the book saying "GET ON WITH IT". I hate lengthy tedious books and this is NOT one of them. The story was very good with enough twists and turns to hold my interest (which seems to get shorter and shorter the older I get).
I highly recommend "Turn to Stone". It's a great story.

For the Freeman fans - This review is for you
I have to tell you - I am through the first part of "The Cold Nowhere" and this book is not a prequel. It stands on it's own and I liked it a lot. It was a fast past non abridged short story & I'm starting to wish The Cold Nowhere was a lot shorter. Back to this book though. The ending was great! This was a very good psycological thriller. Brian Freeman is one of the few writers with repeating characters that I follow. The Cold Nowhere review to follow.

Worth the listen
this novella is very good. Great story and interesting characters. Stride is without his usual sidekicks in this one and they arent missed.

One of the best in series
I usually skip novellas but I’m glad I broke my pattern. It was refreshing not to have the the Cat or Maggie dramas distracting from the main narrative which was just first rate story telling.

Excellent
This book really keeps you thinking. The author has done a lot of wonderful background research in many different areas in psychology. I believe in rehabilitation and support for victims and perpetrators. However there really needs to be more safeguards on the perpetrators because of their lack of self-control. Nice introduction to alcohol anonymous, a really great book thank you for putting it in the plus library as I will look into more books by this author.

Good but too trusting
JB in CA
As usual a good book and I love a good mystery, but seriously, killers are going to open up all of a sudden and tell the truth to a cop because they need somebody to believe in them? Two of them did it and I just laughed. If you’re gonna keep a secret, keep a secret. why tell a cop? Made no sense.
