In 1761, on a sunny day in September, a King and Queen met for the very first time. They were married within hours. Born a German Princess, Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz was beautiful, headstrong, and fiercely intelligent...not precisely the attributes the British Court had been seeking in a spouse for the young King George III. But her fire and independence were exactly what she needed, because George had secrets...secrets with the potential to shake the very foundations of the monarchy.

One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

Description
The second book in the beloved and globally best-selling Bridgerton family, now a series created by Shonda Rhimes for Netflix. Welcome to Anthony's story....
1814 promises to be another eventful season, but not, This Author believes, for Anthony Bridgerton, London's most elusive bachelor, who has shown no indication that he plans to marry. And in all truth, why should he? When it comes to playing the consummate rake, nobody does it better....
Lady Whistledown's Society Papers, April 1814
Anthony Bridgerton needs a wife. Having spent his 20s in a rakish pursuit of pleasure (whilst taking care to ensure the financial security of his mother and seven younger siblings and mother) he knows it's high time he settled down and ensured the continuation of the Bridgerton line. Edwina Sheffield is considered the most beautiful debutante of the current season. She is also sweet, innocent and eminently biddable - Anthony is sure she'll make a perfectly acceptable wife and vows to make her his.
The only obstacle in his way is Edwina's older sister, Kate. Kate is determined to do all she can to allow her sister the chance to marry for love rather than convenience. And the roguish viscount is beginning to think he may have met his match in Kate's keen wit and sharp tongue. Until, that is, he makes the mistake of kissing her....

NOT Flawless, my dear
Horrible from beginning to end. Do not recommend at all and I really, really hope the second season manages to clean up Anthony’s character and make him somewhat decent because i certainly do not vibe with an abusive, manipulative fuckboy in desperate need for therapy.
It was beautifully narrated though

I rather enjoyed that
After reading the first novel I decided to read the second meaning this one. The relationship between the two main characters was very different from Daphne and Simone’s. They each had their own reasons for being around one another but when they were they learnt a lot about who the other was. I can’t say that I was surprised they got married for this is a romance novel but had their betrothal came about was quite funny. I find when one reads romance novels it’s for the light hearted fun of it, I never go into reading romance without needing a good laugh or spark of delight to see to person come together in one way or another. You also need to think about the period it took place in, men and women will act definitely from the modern times. I enjoyed this narrator in this book and the last, something about her voice makes you think you are gossiping with your grandmother about the good old days,

Not great not terrible
It wasn't a bad book, but in the end I was quite bored. Kate seemed a little bit too weepy at times.

Not bad for source material
Not bad, not great either. Kate essentially goes from tiger to scared and docile kitten in the book as soon as she is with Anthony. I much prefer her in the series as she is a much stronger and more forceful character. Also Anthony is outright trying to bully and intimidate her in the early parts of the book and I find that to be off-putting. In the series he is an arrogant type early on to be sure but not trying to outright scare anyone into submission. I think it is decent for source material for the series but not nearly as good as the updated series material.

Long since I’ve finished a book this quick
I really enjoy the Bridgerton series and look forward to the next book already. Surprisingly I favored the first book, as Anthony is a bit annoying. I really do like him much better after learning more about him. Their chemistry was really good and I’m happy with the book. I will recommend it.

The Viscount Who Loved Me - Delightful!!
As was the case with the first Book in the Bridgerton series The Duke and I, I liked and enjoyed the Netflix version, but I simply ADORED the audio book. So much more to a story when you get to know and fall in love with the characters through their inner thoughts and feelings.
The book is also quite a bit different from the movie, but in a better way.
Another thing is that with brilliant narration by Rosalyn Landor, I enjoyed it tremendously.
This was an awesome story by the awesome Julia Quinn. Another winner for sure!
Highly recommended. Get it today, you won’t be sorry.

Way better than the Netflix version
This is such a fun book. Fun but with great character development.
Plus, this is way better than the Netflix adaptation because the book is really focused on the couple and without any distracting side stories.

Sogar in Liebesszenen, total störend.

Es werden häufig dieselben Phrasen verwendet („I‘m going to kill him/her“ oder „He is a rake!“), dafür wenig historische Details wiedergegeben.

Great series!
I do enjoy this series quite a lot! While it’s already preset that a happy ending will happen the journey is still unknown and the hurdles the characters have to go through to find their happy ending are well thought out and greatly written. Most of all I love the speaker, Rosalyn Landor gives everyone a unique voice and puts live in the characters to thoughtful invented by Julia Quinn!

🤬Technik!😡

It’s not well written compared to the Netflix series
The characters seam very childish and plain. There is no depth to the characters or the story. Kate is not portrait as a strong woman but a love-struck idiot. Personally I was very disappointed in the book.
