Description

A devastating plague continues to rage through the land of Muirwood, and all hope is laid at the feet of the young woman Lia. Called as a magical protector, Lia volunteers to embark on one last quest to rescue the knight-maston Colvin - her great love - and his pupil, the alleged heir to the fallen kingdom of Pry-Ree. Undaunted by injuries, Lia sets off across land and sea warning the kingdom of the great plague that is upon them. The arduous journey leads her to the doors of Dochte Abbey, where her friends are supposedly held. However, a fallen enemy lies in wait for Lia, as well as an unbearable new truth. The revelation will pit Lia’s deepest desires against the fate of her enchanted world.…

Fantastically epic and at all times engaging, The Scourge of Muirwood is a monumental finale to the Muirwood Trilogy.

Good series, have read all 6

If you could sum up The Scourge of Muirwood in three words, what would they be?

enticing, exciting, integral

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the story lines, so close to so much of our own peoples history, struggles, triumphs, and the ongoing fight between good and evil. It never comes by just getting everything handed to the people; character is never developed by living the life of Riley. The characters are well developed and are taken through a series of challenges, experiences, choices and relationships that teach them to grow up and become men and women of good character. The stories give good examples of how character is developed through the challenges and experiences we face in life. I love how the books give indications of gospel truths, principles of truth through out as the fight with good and evil wages and how truth can be twisted and used for evil. Alluding to the growth that comes by learning how to follow the spirit of God, (the medium) and how to discern the spirits that attempt to influence our lives for good and for evil. I was captured by the story lines and the characters.

Which character – as performed by Kate Rudd – was your favorite?

Loved them all, the good guys and the bad guys, great performance; I was inspired to look into some of her other works, did not care for some of the other stories but I am reading the Mermaids sister. I would look at and peruse anything Jeff has written and Kate has performed.

Any additional comments?

I am an avid reader, of all kinds of genre, and I will say, I was grateful to read such good stories that let you know the man and woman were going to marry and be intimate, without having to read through or skip the details. I really appreciated the respect and trust the characters develop in their relationships without having to read about their genitals or the sex. I know some people like that kind of thing, and I am not a prude, but I prefer the stories without having to enter into the bed chamber. I would recommend these books to my nephews and nieces for reading as well, I believe they would enjoy them.

Love Jeff Wheeler

This is a beautiful story and a great end to the series. I love his characters and how human they are. I love the fight between good and evil and that there are definite lines you must not cross. So much heart and struggle.

this third one was too religious for me.

There have been biblical themes throughout this trilogy but in this final tome, it was quite heavy handed and felt a lot like I was being preached to. I really struggled to finish this.

A very positive thing I thought about this is that Wheeler created a girl I could relate to (biblical themes aside). She gets dirty, she does a fair share of rescuing and getting herself out of her own scrapes. I am thrilled a male writer was able to create a personable and relatable female protagonist.

P.S. There is a HEA for Lia and Colvin in case you were worried

Ok conclusion to trilogy

A bit of a disappointment after the second book. I really enjoyed the first half of this book. I found the ending a bit forced. Kat Rudd does a good job in the narration. Obviously worth the read if you have read the first two books.

A satisfying end to a very enjoyable trilogy.

Wheeler, the author, admits in the afterward of “The Blight of of Muirwood”–the second book in this trilogy- that it is his favorite of the three books. I must agree.

But this last book finely performs its role, stitching together the disparate storylines, leading the reader through the maze of choices that confront the large cast of characters (some of whom are “seen” only as their actions and conditions are delivered in reports), and further developing the characters of the central players without ever losing its hold on the thread of the central plot.

I found that this last book in the series made me feel even more invested in the trilogy’s heroine, Lea (sp?)—not only in what her life would be like, but even whether she would survive the juggernaut of challenges that grew day by day. I must admit that, although one of the outcomes seemed, to me, to be assured, not all that came to her was expected.

Strong women

Lea is a wonderful heroine who has stood strong in her morales; in the face of adversities and threats.

Undecided

Honestly I was left down by this last book of the series. You get mixed message all throughout the book. Example *spoilers*: Women spread the blight, it is the women’s fault yet the person who saves the others is a woman, although the bad women are loose and the good woman is pure. <insert eye roll here>

The other thing that annoyed me was several parts were either drawn out for no good reason or seemed “whiney” and “over dramatized”, which was bothersome until the end when everything wraps up with a nice bow in the last two chapters which made it annoying. I don’t feel I am explaining it well but it is like here is this story for 3 books and then two chapters of “oh and let me explain how all was resolved”....ah what?

This book wrapped up the story nicely. I really enjoyed this fantasy series with one foot in history, excellent characters, and a great overall plot.
