Description

The hero is kind of a creepy stalker
What would have made The Republic of Thieves better?
The character development is very poor. I can't tell the difference between the characters at 15 and 30. The romance is based on the hero following and continually debasing himself to his love until she gives in and admits her love. According to this book stalking works.

One was great. Two may have been a sophmore's.....
What would have made The Republic of Thieves better?
a story of some kind?
Would you ever listen to anything by Scott Lynch again?
No ... This was the last one I will ever read
What aspect of Michael Page’s performance would you have changed?
It was alright but not great
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The first book in the series was fantastic!!!!

There is a reason this took him so long to write...He didn't have a story worth putting down... The fact is, few people do.

Good but not my favourite.
My least favourite so far but still quite enjoyable. I didn't enjoy the romantic leads in this book as much as the last. Locke is at his best outwitting opponents, not trying to understand women.

Disappointing
I had to force myself to finish this book.
The paste of the story feels totally off to me. At some parts much too slow so I loose interest and then all of the sudden way too fast, which broke immersion.
After this third book in the series, I have 0 understanding of the abilities of the main character. In some parts he is portrayed as a genius, in others as an incapable idiot. Some of the traps he walks into were obvious and could be seen from a mile away but our genius is entirely oblivious for no good reason.
It’s a love story where Locke gets beaten and humiliated on regular basis and only manages to stay afloat through sheer luck. Very disappointing.

Thoroughly enjoyable, clever and well presented
An outstanding series. well written, clever plot, with believable characters.
Another great performance by Michael, always a pleasure to hear clear diction, correct pronunciations and varied voices.

Stand aside, and try not to catch fire
In my opinion, this book was the best in the series (so far). Just like the first two books, we are following Locke & Jean tackling a series of problems. Again, they are in a new city, so prepare yourself for long world-building dialogues. Luckily, Scott Lynch is very good at providing realistic and interesting dialogues.
Several reasons made me like this book so much more than the first two. First of all, the flashbacks are not only flashbacks to aid the main plot but also reveal another interesting storyline. The second reason is Sabetha. It was great to finally have her in the storyline to outsmart Locke. Finally, the pacing was much better compared to the first two books.
I have no complaints about Michael Page's narration. He was excellent as usual. My biggest complaint is that the sections within the chapters are not marked, so you end up having hour-long chapters but are not able to see when the section will end.

Best of the Series!
Amazing! Lynch is at the height of his powers here. Enjoyed every second. A pure joy. How will I read/listen to anything else now?

The best one so far!
The book picks up characters from book 1, and the plot gets deeper and more complex. Can’t wait for book 4.

Good, but...
A very nice read, but somewhat lacking compared to the previous books. Its pace is considerably slower than in the previous installments, in particular when talking about the younger Locke. Still, the ending is intriguing and leaves the reader waiting for more.

The Republik der Diebe? (leichte spoiler)
Der dritte Band der Trilogie der aber den vierten Band folgen lassen muss. wir erfahren mehr über Lockes Beziehung zu Sabetha und geraten in die Abgründe der Politik. Statt einer Republik der Diebe wird mehr und mehr klar, dass die Magier eigentlich das sagen haben.

good book , I preferred book 1 and 2
not much to say here y I simply didn't enjoy the story as much in the third book. book 1 and 2's setting was more interesting too me , book 3 had too much romance for my tastes.

Not on par with the previous books.
Maybe it's me, but I found this book to lack the excitement and action of the previous Gentlemen Bastards publications. The narrator is great as always.
