Pity it is abridged!!

I love this series - Bernard Cornwell at his best!! The only disappointment is that Audible does not offer this book in an unabridged version.

Lets! do some Viking- ing

What did you like best about this story?

Book three is the best of first three excellent books of the Saxon chronicles. Book two was good, but here we have much less of the pious King Alfred, full of god and goodness he may be, but godliness and piousness don't make stories for telling in the feast hall.

In The Lords of the North we experience more of the savagery of the times. Uhtred's fortunes are twisted and turned by the Spinners throughout the story. Serpent Breath and Wasp Sting Uhtred's swords run with blood many times. This chronicle climaxes with Uhtred doing what Uhtred does best boasting and killing.

What about Jamie Glover’s performance did you like?

His narration is clear. While he may not be a Saxon or a Dane you can easily imagine he is.
