Lord Philip Keating is hosting a house party, which includes his particular favorite, Miss Ada Rivers. He finds her attractive and witty, and is hopeful that she will accept his request to court her once they return to town.
Miss Ada Rivers has loved Lord Keating for a long time and is hopeful that he too, is beginning to care for her. She accepts his attentions happily, whilst her mother vastly approves of the connection.
However, unbeknownst to Lord Keating and Miss Rivers, someone is trying to ensure that there is no attachment between him and Miss Rivers. A missing necklace, a sprained ankle and a stolen kiss put a strain on their blossoming relationship. Will they be able to trust one another or will the cruel schemes of a determined woman tear them apart?
