Cath and Wren are identical twins, and until recently they did absolutely everything together. Now they're off to university, and Wren's decided she doesn't want to be one half of a pair any more - she wants to dance, meet boys, go to parties and let loose. It's not so easy for Cath. She's horribly shy and has always buried herself in the fan fiction she writes, where she always knows exactly what to say and can write a romance far more intense than anything she's experienced in real life.

Millions of young listeners have loved the World's Worst Children tales. Now they will revel in this delightfully dreadful collection of the most gruesome grown-ups ever: The World's Worst Teachers. Think your teachers are bad? Wait till you meet this lot. These 10 tales of the world's most splendidly sinister teachers will have you running for the school gates. Dr Dread teaches science and is half man, half monster. Watch out for the ghastly Miss Seethe. She is always furious and she's on a detention rampage.
Description
Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood. I never asked to be the son of a Greek God. I was just a normal kid, going to school, playing basketball, skateboarding. The usual. Until I accidentally vaporized my maths teacher. That's when things started really going wrong. Now I spend my time fighting with swords, battling monsters with my friends, and generally trying to stay alive.
This is the one where Zeus, God of the Sky, thinks I've stolen his lightning bolt - and making Zeus angry is a very bad idea.
Can Percy find the lightning bolt before a fully-fledged war of the Gods erupts?

Outstanding!!
Would you consider the audio edition of The Lightning Thief: Percy Jackson, Book 1 to be better than the print version?
Yes, I recall reading the print version in primary and I really did like it but never considered reading the other books. But when I listened to it I was hooked.
What did you like best about this story?
The action and adventure, the emotion. The precise use of greek mythology spun into it, all real myths.
Which scene was your favorite?
My favorite scene was when Percy, Grover and Sally were fighting their way to camp half-blood. It was action-packed, and very emotional.
Any additional comments?
I highly recommend this book.

Fun story to revisit over and over again
I come back to this book over and over again every time I start listening to the Percy Jackson books again, so it always amazes me how well it sets up the world.
Amazing characters and funny dialogue is something that hooks the reader and keeps them invested.
I think that’s why I love these books so much!

bad narrator
i love Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series and I've re read the series several time but this is my first time listening to the audiobook. I wasn't impressed with the narrator. Hard to hear the difference between the characters because he doesn't use much of a different voice while doing them. So glad the other RR series' doesn't have Bernstein as a narrator

Awesome for any age!
Loved it all, Action right from the start, some of the greek pronunciations were funny but that really doesn't matter unless you are Greek, Cypriot or a scholar and want to nit pick.
Clever mythology and modern mash up. Performance was very good with a great array of characters from the one reader.. Already bought the second one to go onto.
Even if you didn't like the film, this is packed out way more so would recommend!

Feels good to be back
I read the books when I was a teen and I loved them. In the past months I started re-reading or listening to a lot of books that shaped my teen years.
5 Minutes into the first chapter and I couldn't stop.
The reader does a wonderful job bringing Percy's story to life.
I'm off to listen to the next book

Simply fun
Okay I'm might be a bit biased as I like Greek mythology, but also in general the modern version of the Greek gods was a brilliant idea. I enjoyed the funny allusions to modern times a lot. The plot was captivating, with an unexpected surprise in the end. Percy himself comes off as quite funny and sympathetic; he's a character that everyone can easy relate to. All in all, this is a novel definitely worth your time as an adult and the narrator is doing a marvels job, too.

exciting!
I really liked the story and the way the book is written. It kinda like feels as if you would hear the thoughts of that teenage boy Percy, which makes it even more entertaining. I was only a bit disappointed by the reader, because the voice imitation in direct speak often was a bit colourless and felt like bad acting.

Just amazing
Having read all the Percy Jackson books, when I was younger, I was thrilled to listen to it and return to all those moments I cherished, while reading it for the first time.
The narrator does a magnificent job, at giving the characters their own voice, which I appreciate.
