Louisa Walsh emerged from a tumultuous childhood with a degree in counseling, a wealthy boyfriend, and her sunny outlook on life mostly intact. The story unfolds in a charming little mountain town in Colorado, which gives the book a comforting, escapist feel. It blends light-hearted romance with themes of grief, healing, and finding oneself again after loss. I enjoyed the small-town atmosphere and the “found family” dynamic at the B&B for the broken-hearted. The romance itself was sweet but perhaps a touch too quick. It's a bit predictable in the way you’d expect, and while I didn’t exactly mind it, I still found myself wishing for a little more depth. Some of the heavier themes also felt slightly under-explored, even if the intention was sincere.
Overall, it’s a warm, feel-good audiobook with more emotional weight than you might anticipate at first glance. Ideal for listeners who enjoy character-driven stories, a cosy mountain setting, and a narrator capable of making even the quietest moments shine.
