    Description

Get all four books in the Contingency War Series for one low price. Hours of epic space opera action and adventure with unique heroes and twists that you won’t see coming!

The series includes: The Contingency, The Way Station Gambit, Rise of Nimrod Fleet, and Earth’s Last War.

    From book one:

No-one comes in peace. Every being in the galaxy wants something and is willing to take it by force. The Hedalt were no different. They came from the distant reaches of the galaxy to wage war. Their fleet wanted to take Earth for its prize, but we were ready. We were stronger.

For years, we fought them, ship-to-ship, until we scattered their forces and drove them back. Pursuing the Hedalt fleet to their home world, we delivered the decisive blow. We nuked their planet and wiped them out for good.

    Or so we thought.

For decades, Earth Fleet sent out Deep Space Recon missions to scour the galaxy and clean up the remnants of the Hedalt Empire. Eventually, we found only ghosts - empty outposts and long-dead colonies. But, close to the edge of known space, I - Captain Taylor Ray - and my crew are about to make a discovery that will change everything.

The war isn’t over. The war has yet to begin.

poor tactics/decision making ignorant of physics

The author must be new to the genre. He writes pitiful military scenarios. His character development and interaction is surprisingly tolerable, though. The narrator is not the worst i've heard. He tends to voice through his nose on a few characters. It is quite annoying. Ogden writes his story as a submarine in water, not a ship operating inside a vacuum. Sound can not travel through a vacuum. There is no oxygen in a vacuum. You can not swim through a vacuum as if you were in a pool of water. Nor can a ship steer in a vacuum by using air molecules putting pressure against wings, air foils, and wing flaps. There are NO molecules in space. It is a vacuum. Ogden must believe the Deep Black is filled with water because his physics and ships only operate as he describes within a body of water. It is embarrassing listening to this book.
Spend your $$$ on works by Ryk Brown, A.G. Riddle, Dalzelle, Anspach and Yanez. They follow the basic and theoretical laws of physics. They also carry the reader through smooth flowing action scenes that follow logical and proven tactics and combat scenarios.

    Riveting

I have been reading and listening to Scifi fir over 60 years I can strongly recommend this series. The characters are multidimensional the locations are vividly described and the action is non stop
The performance was superb. The females sounded like females and all the voices were distinct

    Read.... don’t listen!

The narrative is not that bad, but, the “Mr. Magoo” voice used for ‘Captain’ get really annoying fast.

    Exciting Military Space Opera

This is an exciting and imaginative story with dynamic, multi-dimensional characters. The interaction and dialogue between the characters bring them to life and make them believable and relatable. The world building is well done. There is plenty of entertaining action, suspense, and surprising plot twists and turns. I enjoyed this complete series. The voice of the narrator (Doug Tisdale) is pleasant and makes these books a listening pleasure. I was provided a free review copy of this audio book and am voluntarily leaving this review.

Give it time. I almost returned this book....

The book starts slow. The story seems boring. BAM
then it kicks you in the head. Well the ride was well worth a credit. the plot does become predictable however there is no real way to stop that without destroying the book.

    Good story. Bad narration.

The story was good, but the narration almost made me glad it ended. The voices were almost like fingernails on a chalkboard.

The Captain's Bob Dylan impersonator voice is bad

It is a fun story, a little weak on the science but well worth a listen.
I honestly would have preferred the book over the audio version because the reader while clear, did not perform the differing voices well. And the captains voice sounded like a bad comic impersonator's version of Bob Dylan. It hurts the character and the story. The reader would make an excellent nonfiction reader, because voice acting is not his wheelhouse.

    Great story!

I enjoyed this story very much! Just when you think you have the story figured out, Ogden changes it on you. The characters are believable and memorable. I hope Ogden continues writing in this universe with these characters.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
