Description
After the events of The High Republic: Convergence, the Jedi travel to Jedha in this all-new Star Wars audiobook original.
Jedha. The worn streets of this ancient world serve as a confluence for the galaxy. Visited by all, yet owned by none. Here, the Jedi are but one creed among many worshipping and studying the Force. From the Guardians of the Whills to the Path of the Open Hand, countless beings come to learn, and to share, in peace.
As all of Jedha prepares for its Festival of Balance, the galaxy still reels from the violence on Eiram and E’ronoh. But after foiling a plot to escalate the war between the two planets, the Jedi believe that a lasting peace may be within reach. Master Creighton Sun and Jedi Knight Aida Forte arrive on Jedha with delegations from both planets to formally end the “Forever War.” The Jedi hope that the harmony of Jedha’s many factions, along with the signing of a peace treaty, will create a symbol to the rest of the galaxy of what can be accomplished through unity.
But not all are happy with the Jedi’s involvement or ready to concern themselves with peace. Rumors begin to swirl that the Jedi bring war in their wake. The distrust and anger that for so long fueled the Forever War now threaten to corrupt the communities of Jedha. When violence breaks out on the sacred moon, the war that was meant to end on Jedha may soon engulf the entire world.

Great vocals, but I couldn't understand a thing!
I know it's an Audio Drama not an Audiobook, however the story needed a narrator to explain actions and scene details clearly. It was so confusing and infuriating trying to seperate character voices and decipher action beats. The voice actors were great and the sound effects were good, you just cant understand what's going on for most of the story.

Soap opera, when this book should have been dark and mysterious.
Aside from Convergence, it’s been a long time since I struggled this hard to get through an audio book - especially one this short. Minimal narration would have made this so much easier to follow - and i’d be able to take it a bit more seriously if the voice actors performed with the realization that the characters are witnessing terror attacks and an actual battle instead of making light conversation, laughing and making silly remarks.
As a massive SW fan, Phase two has been wildly underwhelming so far after Path of Deceit. I’m praying they don’t continue to use audio dramas for the main storyline novels (or whatever the hell this is considered) as they’re not a great fit for everyone.

Poor Performance and Story
I’ve never really been of fan of audio dramas(non-narrated audiobooks) and this one certainly does not change that opinion. Out of the handful of ones that I’ve listened to the seem to come off as terrible at worst and lazy at best. I’ve never written a review for an audiobook before, but based on the large amount of positive reviews I figured I would give my seemingly unpopular take on this book.
The Story:
The main story for the High Republic saga overall has come to be one I’ve enjoyed a lot; this story however is not. The way it’s written seems to over-explain details that seem to be more obvious by the sounds of the scene itself and under explain some more important details. The characters themselves to come off as characters in a melodramatic Soap Opera rather than an anxiety inducing fight for life or death. And when deadly or near deadly scenes do occur I found myself wanting them to just end and move on as quickly as possible. The Soap Drama style of writing this book hand I feel overshadows what should be the key point in the book, the Battle of Jedha. Which unfortunately, gets lost in the underwhelming dialogue between characters who don’t seem to really be on edge even if they are in the middle of a war zone. I was originally brought to paying for this book because I wanted to know what happened after the events of Convergence and am disappointed by what seems to be a back step on the progress made by that book.
The Performance:
The voice acting itself also has it issues, and I am sure the writing certainly didn’t help, but the tone and pitch of the characters voices didn’t seem to match what was intended in the writing. Again coming off as a poorly performed Soap Opera and not mention the irritating droid P3 who seems to enjoy constantly speaking through metaphors making it even more difficult to understand what is going on.
The lack of narration in audio dramas like this one makes it critical for the dialogue and sound to guide the listener through the story without being too vague or too monotonous. I’ve still have yet to come across one that does this well and this one sadly is a far cry from what I would consider a good audio drama.

Don’t waste your time
No new info. No narration so when the fight breaks out all you hear are sound effects. Worst Star Wars book in the series so far

Finally something good f’n food
The last three High Republic books have been mediocre to horrible, so it’s nice to have a really good one again. Even got a bit misty eyed at the end

Loved it
The best of the Star Wars audio dramas to date. I typically prefer reading the script books but this was engaging from start to finish. Great addition to the High Republic.

Love the audio drama format
I understand an audio drama isn't for everyone, but, for someone visually impaired, it's excellent. I recognize most of the cast members, though their different voices for their characters did take some getting use to in figuring out who was who. Still, an excellent start for Star Wars in 2023.

Couldn't finish it. Do not like the audio drama
As someone who loves star wars and listens to most SW audio books, I couldn't stand this style. It was so hard to follow, the sound effects were often distracting, the lack of any kind of narration was unhelpful, and he voice acting felt forced a lot. Lots of awkward laughter throughout.
Go back to Marc Thompson's amazing performances please!
