    Description

Instant New York Times and USA Today Best Seller

“A great book.... It’s f*cking riveting!” (Joe Rogan)

"A rare gut-punch writer, full of grit and insight, who we will be happily reading for years to come." (Gregg Hurwitz, New York Times best-selling author of the Orphan X series)

In this third high-octane thriller in the "seriously good" (Lee Child, number one New York Times best-selling author) Terminal List series, former Navy SEAL James Reece must infiltrate the Russian mafia and turn the hunters into the hunted.

Deep in the wilds of Siberia, a woman is on the run, pursued by a man harboring secrets - a man intent on killing her.

A traitorous CIA officer has found refuge with the Russian mafia with designs on ensuring a certain former Navy SEAL sniper is put in the ground.

Half a world away, James Reece is recovering from brain surgery in the Montana wilderness, slowly putting his life back together with the help of investigative journalist Katie Buranek and his longtime friend and SEAL teammate Raife Hastings. Unbeknownst to them, the Russian mafia has set their sights on Reece in a deadly game of cat and mouse.

In his most visceral and heart-pounding thriller yet, Jack Carr explores the darkest instincts of humanity through the eyes of a man who has seen both the best and the worst of it.

Carr earns a place with the best in this genre!!!!

This prologue begins with a hunt for a woman. Not looking for a woman but an actual hunt with a cross bow. The antagonist references The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell. You don’t know in those first paragraphs but the man is hunting Raife Hastings sister. Raife is a very prominent character from the first two books. Meanwhile James Reece is recovering with Katie by his side from surgery to remove the brain tumor diagnosed in book one. He’s invited to Montana by his friend Raife Hastings to recuperate. Instead of getting some much needed R&R he and Raife are ambushed by members of a Russian mob. Of course they are defeated when the CIA is warned by a hostile mole about the coming ambush. The men have been hired by an exCIA Officer with a grudge against the two friends. It’s up to Reece to end it or both families will be looking over their shoulders for the rest of their lives. But human malignancies reside right here also. I don’t want to give away any spoilers but remember the human hunt in the prologue... Ray Porter is an incredible narrator and he reads this book as if it were his words. This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION. If you found this review helpful please indicate so. Thank You.

    Great espionage thriller!

I see that Audible listener Shelley (Raleigh NC) has already written an excellent review, so I'll use my review to saying that Jack Carr has entered the elite level of authors of the espionage thriller genre. Ray Porter does a terrific job narrating. He was already at the elite level of male audio book narrators.

    Redacted

What the (redacted)! An arrogant, self important author writes a story read by a smug narrator. I would be smug too if I had to say (redacted) a thousand times while narrating a book. I don’t think I will purchase any more of his (redacted) books!

    This series is great

The series just keeps getting better. The depth of the characters has grown throughout the books with Savage son really bringing them to life. Ray Porter remains my all time favorite narrator and much of the “life” is due to his ability to bring out the best in the characters. He’s great at defining the voices and adds emotion, humor etc very appropriately. The storyline continues but is not as predictable as I anticipated. What a great ride. At the start Carr talks about the ridiculous redactions that are required. They seem to come in a flurry at times and are exceptionally annoying. Sadly many seem unnecessary & are only there because of Carr’s previous “job”. So many authors who haven’t been in the military probably get away with writing just as much. Not to mention it’s fiction, and I truly believe Carr wouldn’t be giving away “secrets” in his writings. Ok, off my soapbox. The only bad thing about this book was the waiting for it to come out. Now- Carr sets us up with major anticipation for the next one! I can’t wait to hear what the last 2 minutes of this audiobook have set up!

    Come on, man

Jack Carr’s books carry the story on their own. I’m not sure why he had to turn every page into an advertisement for his buddies various products, companies, web pages and services. Makes the whole thing seem contrived. Just write the damned story, man. If you’re hurting that badly for cash, start your own line of coffee, or woobie, or something. All the shameless plugs for your boys just make it fake and detract from the story.

    3X5 Stars in a Row!

Thank you Jack Carr. You wrote this excellent book and the two James Reese books before it, built the characters, the suspense, the stories and brought them all together without missing a beat! Ray Porter was terrific in lending his special vocal talent. The production team brought this audiobook out without a hitch. I know that I don't know all the work that went into "Savage Son" and the previous thrillers, just know that it was worth it. It's excellent!

    Great story

I was anticipating this book and when it finally released I was not disappointed. I have read all three of the books so far and can not wait for the next book in the series. The book left a cliff hanger and I want to know...

Rekindled the magic of terminal list

I thought that the terminal list was fantastic, I was a little bit disappointed by true believer, which felt to me like an obligatory sequel to an unexpectedly successful first book. So I am happy to see that it was the second book that was the fluke and not the first, because this book grabs you almost immediately and keeps you engaged throughout. I may actually give it a second lesson, which I almost never do.

    He gets it

He understands war and the internal fight as well. A real pipe hitter writing about it. LLTB
