The narrator makes is SO bad.
This is not one of my favorite books but I like to read/listen to them in order. The narrator is awful and his pronunciations are horrendous. He cannot pronounce normal words and his pronunciation of names is even worse. Aroota? Ugh. I am not sure I want to listen to the next books he narrates in this series.

Terrible story!
Rupert Avery is likeable in the first book, but is awful in merchant prince. Unlikable.

The narrator....... sucks
The narrator seem to like to change the names of people. Not quite sure what that was about but it was distracting. I gritted my teeth every time I hear Toe-mas. It's Thomas.

voice actor needs replacement
Peter Joyce butchers so many words in the narration of this story it is hard to follow at times. i am a long time fan of Raymond Frost and have read all of his books multiple times. I even played his video game, etc but Joyce doesn't seem to follow anyone else's pronunciation but his own. it is cringe worthy. if you are a long time fan stick to the book, unless you are very patient and can handle your favorite characters names being butchered continuously.

this trilogy is much less enjoyable than the prior
this trilogy is more of a slog than the prior sagas. the narrator was ok, though he continued to use weird inflection or pronunciation.
the storyline seemed more forced. there were several places entire chapters could be cut without losing anything from the story. additionally, this book specifically had a weird cut from the main story to the epilog.

Amazing story, barely passable narrator
This narrator is unable to distinguish between characters and makes very strange pronunciation choices. For those of you who are listening for nostalgic reasons, be prepared to be introduced to “Lewis” and “Aroota” who I remember as Luis and Arutha.

Not as good as the first
This book could've been better if it wasn't a sequel. I understand that maybe Ru's advancement as a merchant will play a larger role later in the series, but it seems like Feist just wanted to write a book about merchants and their petty intrigues and used the Serpent War as a backdrop for it.

The story doesn’t hold up as well
I read these books years ago. This book hasn’t aged well. It feels like an entire filler book. The plot wasn’t really advanced, and there was a lot of tedium in the story.
