Description
Though she is free of the palace, rescued from her position as a blood slave, Aria is haunted by the memories of her time spent within the fortress, tormented by memories of Braith, the prince that betrayed her and shattered her heart. Every day is a struggle to get through, and the only solace she is able to find is with Max, her best friend, and fellow captive.
Though Max does not understand her bond to Braith, he knows some of what she endured, and helps to ease some of the tattered pieces of her soul. Aria slowly begins to salvage the broken parts of her wounded spirit by throwing herself into the wonder of the woods she had so greatly missed, and the secure and reassuring love that Max freely gives her.
Her world is thrown into a tailspin again though when a marauding group of vampires destroy the caves she had found temporary shelter in. Scattered about the forest, seeking to stay hidden and find her family, Aria is stunned when Braith, the monster that savaged her heart, reappears. Stunned by his sudden arrival in her world, Arianna is uncertain if he has come to recapture her, or to kill her for daring to escape.

Not as good as the first..
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No. Though I was interested enough, wanting to know what happens, I finished listening to the book and thought "That's it? That's the end?" It's not until you actually finish the whole book that you realize that not much actually happens. The first half of the book was very interesting and it kept me hooked. But toward the middle and through the end, the book fizzles out; it's mainly conversation to find out what is going on and lots of 'roll-your-eyes' romance and Braith's possessive 'nobody touch her' moments. Don't get me wrong, I am all for the romance, but the descriptions and dialogue are a little over the top in several scenes. Another aspect of the book I did not like was the writing. The author is so repetitive with her use of words that you start to notice them and cringe every time you hear them. The use of 'as if' or 'as it', or 'as he', or 'as she', or 'as they' was the worst. You hear it with every two to three sentences and I am not exaggerating here guys. It's pretty bad. Also, the author likes using descriptive adjectives for everything, and many of them seem unnecessary. In short, this book needs the fat trimmed.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The beginning, when Aria and Braith meet again. The least interesting would be the whole second half of the book.
Any additional comments?
I think the story has a lot of potential but after reading the second book I am hesitant to listen to the third.

Too weepy and needy for me!
This was too frustrating and lame to continue.
This will suit some listeners, but not for me.

Unhealthy Relationship...
This should be titled "the idiots guide to ignoring relationship red flags"....
The guy shows all signs of being abusive and controlling. the entirety of the book and the previous one is about making excuses for all his bad choices and trying to explain that they're okay...

The heart wants what the heart wants
Aria & Braith’s journey continues
I love how the story picked up right where it left off. Braith is furious, feeling hurt and betrayed by Aria. They shared something beautiful and she told him she loved him and would never leave. Only for her to run off with Jericho. Aria only left because she found out about his betrothal. That was a knife to the heart.
Aria leaving changed Braith. He became cruel. Rivaling the tales of his father and brother. But after Aria drank his blood, Braith can find her anywhere. So he waited and then hunted her.
Ohhh I am so in LOVE with this couple. The hardships they face, the war they want to wage. Everything about this series is great! Can’t wait to listen to the rest.

Good but…
I’m sorry, but sometimes it drags on. Things repeat from earlier in the story that the characters had known and they claim they didn’t know about it. There is no sexy time for them. Just sharing blood and that’s the only erotic thing goin on for them.

Like previous reviews
Just like previous reviewers, the beginning was the best part. There was more information given in this book I.e the reason behind the war. I agree with others that there is a lot of inward commentary that could be cut. I also am getting annoyed by the redundant description of Ariana's looks or the redundant explanation of guilt about being max into blood slave trade with her, etc.
Overall the storyline was ok.

narration is 👍🏼 👌🏼 great!
I really enjoyed these books, only issue I had is with aria she is just strong willed but yet so emotional it was frustrating to me! I like strong woman not ones that cry everytime something happens. she cried so much and also she took too long to accept the males need to protect and defend her at all cost also when his life was threatened. it's like she wanted him to spare ppl that shouldn't be spared, it's insane. also why is this such a slow burn they have NOT had any SEX at all it's been 2 books already. I love books with spice 🔥 and this obviously is pg13. I don't think I'd buy the next book just because of this but the plot is cool and entertaining though. Overall 4 🌟
