As the first 2 books of this series, I love it. Special mention to the narrator for his great and funny interpretation of the gnoles. I'm so invested in the gnoles, it makes no sense.

I feel like all the books from this serie are build the same. very slow and kind of hard to understand universe, each book explore new characters, Im in love with Piper! Then something happens and you cannot put that book down for a minute until the end. and I'm here for it!

I absolutely love the reader's voice

Loved this book as much, and even maybe more, than the first one: funny, fascinating, very emotional, moving, a real page turner too. Good description of positive feelings of friendship, courage and love.

Though paladins seem obsessed with sex (and not in the most elegant words), and very straight to business (what about tenderness, romance, sensuality, what is the rush?) Also, they seem to have a tendency to kiss people without their consent, by surprise and out of nowhere, and that is assault, not love. When they subsequently apologise, the assaulted characters say they liked it and that seems to make it ok in the reader mind, to act that way, but kisses, like any intimate interaction, require consent and awareness.

Apart from that, the relationship between the two main protagonists is subsequently cute and respectful. Nice description of thoughts and feelings. Also more profund a bond they share than previous 2nd book, in which the paladin had much more going on between the legs than in the heart and showed more interested in Clara's breasts than her personality.

I also loved the guard person character (unsure about spelling: Earstripe?), great voice action and dialogues! and the thoughtfull and kind concern for their people's rights from his friends. It was nice seeing Clara again, even if briefly. She has a great impressive personality.
