Overcoming
This book is about overcoming hardships. While life may not be fair there's always hope that circumstances can suddenly change. When you are at the bottom of the pit, this book gives hope of climbing out.
The storyline was great and the narration was very good. I would add this to a must hear audiobook.

A Literary Gem...
I didn't know what to expect with this book; however, I was mesmerized. I don't know whether it's based on a true story, but the messages and story line are both life affirming. I can't recall a book that ever made me smile, cry, feel sadness about a time in our nation's history as this book did. There was nothing unrealistic about any of the characters. It was solid, authentic, genuine, compassionate and told in a loving way. I chose this book based on the cover, the name of the book, and the fact that I purchased it on Christmas day after my own family's festivities. It was a beautiful way for me to spend the evening at home, But I imagine I would have felt the same way about the material in the book had it been Fourth of July or Mother's Day. It's that good. The narration is exceptional. So often I've thrown books back due to poor narration. But this was exemplary.

Brought me back to the 70s
So grateful for how far we’ve come as a people in our ability to embrace each other and resolve our differences. A beautiful message for Christmas as well as any day of the year.

Beautiful Story!
I loved this beautiful sweet Christmas story. I don't know how the author writes in such a way that at times I feel he is seeing inside my own soul with all my hopes and fears and pain. I got to meet Richard Paul Evan's some 30 years ago when my father had him come to St Louis for a fireside. As a speaker, he was captivating, just as his writing is. I cried as this book came to an end. I can't explain why as that would be a spoiler for the story but my heart was touched and the saying is true "Tis better to have loved and lost then never to have loved at all." Thank you Mr. Evan's for another endearing story that helps to heal my heart.

Great Story!
Loved the book.Even had tears in my eyes sometimes. Visualizing Every Moment ....Feeling all that happens. You Have to Continue.. to find out How it Ends! Such a Great Author!

Healing and sweet
There were many valuable insights in this book I personally needed. The story was sweet, a little suspensful, (you knew there was some secret William wasn't sharing), and heart wrenching. it was simple and predictable as far as the romance went. My favorite take away was the thought that we don't"expect" but instead "hope".
