Description
Prosecutor Jessie Black has an airtight case against Tyrone Nash, a gang thug who shot a man behind a bar in West Philly. But what should be an easy trial turns complicated when Nash somehow intimidates her eyewitness, and he recants his testimony on the eve of the trial. Now Jessie's only move to stop the killer from walking is to call a witness she had hoped to avoid - Reggie Tuck, a smooth-talking jailhouse snitch who claims Nash confessed to him during a short time they shared a cell. Worse, there are other people with an interest in the trial - people intent on silencing Reggie's big mouth, permanently. Soon Jessie and Reggie find themselves trapped in a courthouse taken hostage by armed assailants. She must find a way to keep both Reggie and herself alive long enough to learn who they are and how to stop them. But is Reggie Tuck's life worth protecting at the risk of her own?

I really liked the plot...
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes and no. I knew there was something about the jailhouse snitch that made him a likable character but you don't get to find out what until almost the very end. The rest of the book has lots of action but I found much of it to be kind of predictable. The lunatics take over the asylum but they're not the most brilliant lunatics! Some of the stunts were not exactly realistic but hey, it's fiction and I did enjoy the book so I guess it to each his own.
Which character – as performed by Xe Sands – was your favorite?
I think Xe Sands is a very good narrator. Job well done!
Any additional comments?
I recommend this book when you are in between a couple of heavy books and need something light and fast.

Lots of action and suspense!
Informant is the second novel in the ADA Jesse Black series. There is lots of action, but not much of it is in a courtroom. The suspense is extreme. I hope this series continues! Xe Sands is a very accomplished narrator.

riding a tractor creates a low bar but....
Any additional comments?
The plot made suspension of disbelief a bridge too far, but for me the most disconcerting element was the presentation of interior thoughts: I expect those thoughts to be of interest, and to come from only one character. This violated both my rules on that score.

Good story excellent narration
Interesting story with lots of twists and I will definitely look for more by this author. The real reason I found this book, as well as many others, is because of the reader—XE Sands is one of my favorites. Following her, and others such as George Guidall, has broadened my reading interests dramatically.

More police procedural than legal thriller
Enjoyed story and narration. Kept me guessing. Not much legal analysis for nerdy lawyers but interesting!

Too many characters!
Good story… However there are way too many characters. It is complicated to keep track of everybody with having so many characters in a story that’s not even that long.
