Description
She was given two choices....
Georgiana Bridgerton isn't against the idea of marriage. She'd just thought she'd have some say in the matter. But with her reputation hanging by a thread after she's abducted for her dowry, Georgie is given two options: live out her life as a spinster or marry the rogue who has ruined her life.
Enter option number three....
As the fourth son of an earl, Nicholas Rokesby is prepared to chart his own course. He has a life in Edinburgh, where he's close to completing his medical studies, and he has no time - or interest - to find a wife. But when he discovers that Georgie Bridgerton - his literal girl-next-door - is facing ruin, he knows what he must do.
A marriage of convenience...
It might not have been the most romantic of proposals, but Nicholas never thought she'd say no. Georgie doesn't want to be anyone's sacrifice, and besides, they could never think of each other as anything more than childhood friends...could they?
But as they embark upon their unorthodox courtship they discover a new twist to the age-old rhyme. First comes scandal, then comes marriage. But after that comes love....

why feminism makes bad love stories
This may be a provocative title and I do not really think this is true for all love stories. It did ruin this one for me though. I like Julia Quinn and enjoyed every book I have read so far but this was a disappointment. It feels like a string woman could only be married to a weak man and only if he was forced into the marriage.
The characters are unlikeable.
She is abducted and then forced into a marriage that she does not really want but shows no signs of trauma or any kind of difficulties trusting him.
He is cold and weird and awkward.
Also there’s way too much cat content in this story. I am very biased because I detest cats but the cat dilemma really did not serve the story.

A breakthrough in the story!
This was the first story where women rights were openly talked about and while not in an overly political manner - this is a romance after all - I found it very refreshing that this topic has made it into the series. A woman with an occupation is not something that was common in the high classes of society back then, so I applaud that Julia Quinn chose to make it a topic!
