Description

For Raven Black, hunting criminals is second nature. So is denial. It's not easy moving forward with one foot stuck in the past. But a new case offers her a much-needed distraction when Keystone accepts their toughest assignment yet - to track down an elusive criminal who's selling children on the black market.

Their investigation leads them deep into the underbelly of the Breed world, a place both treacherous and enticing. With no room for mistakes, Raven makes a tough decision to lock the door to her past before it interferes with her job. The only trouble? Christian holds the key.

The stakes are high, and a shocking twist turns everything on its head. Will they catch this criminal before more lives are lost? Find out in the latest edge-of-your-seat installment of the Crossbreed series.

5+++ Deathtrap Stars

“Believe it or not, good things can come out of chaos. Life can arise from death just as death can arise from life.” - Dannika Dark

You know, there are books you just can’t get enough of, the ones that get under your skin you want to share them with the world.

This, my friends is one of those books. This whole series has been a shocker for me. And I will tell you why. I am a romance fanatic.

This series hints at romance and relationships, and you can see things are developing. But it’s not about that, it is about these characters and their connections not only to themselves but to one another.

I can’t tell you how happy it was to listen to a book and just get it, and want more.

Of course this book continues where the last one ended and we get the whole Keystone clan. I will say Victor is growing on me. I really wasn’t sure if I was ever going to like the fellow.

So so many emotions, I went from laughing to smiling to tears, to downright anger, to heart pounding anticipation. Then back to happy and joy.

I am left smiling and with hope of what is to come in the next book. I have so many questions so many wishes and hopes.

I have to say it again Nicole Poole is fanfreakingtastic. She brings these characters off the page and breathes life into them. They feel like friends and that’s not only a testament to the narrator but to the fabulous author. Dannika’s world is unlike any I have read before and I am greedy because I want and need more.

“Tears don’t make you weak. Fear does. Weep all you want for what happened to ya, that's your right. But never give someone your fear. That’s power. That’s control.” - Dannika Dark

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Twists and turns

This book is full of twists and turns, tears and heart ache, yet happiness and laughs too.

There is nothing like a book that wraps you up in knots and spits you out at the end. This book does that and so much more. This is the third of the series and sure makes an impact.

Danika should be apploded for making readers want to rip off fictional characters' heads. Then make readers absolutely fall in love with other characters.

Love/ hate relationship

I like this author a lot. When I found this series it was a love/hate relationship. I don’t like the main character she is is too irritating for me. She starts off a strong women then because the annoying weak girl. I know characters need to have depth but her personality is complete opposites. I started the series in hopes that Christian finds love but I really don’t like his love interest. I’m not sure if I will continue this series. This book left a lot of open questions that could have been wrapped up in the last hour but it wasn’t. Now you either have to listen to the next book and hope they get answered or leave them unanswered.

The Plot Thickens

Deathtrap keeps with the story line of the previous Keystone novels. The plots, though a bit predictable, become more complex as the story reaches it's climax. I found the different story lines enjoyable and it allows us to become closer to the other members of Keystone.

This books main plot is around Shepard, the Sensor, who I find the least interesting of them all. Even after this book I feel nothing but annoyance for the dude. If he were killed off I would be grateful because Vicktor could start looking for someone else. The author wants him to come across as mysterious but I just find him rude and boring. A sad story about his past is revealed and I couldn't care any less. By mid way your gonna know what the plot twist will be but it was still interesting to see how D.D. told the story.

Raven and Christian still have issues with their feelings. I wish this story line could have moved a bit slower but I'm gonna assume there is something she is building up to besides them eventually getting it on.

There were some things that raised a brow. Example, there are three separate non related scenes where a character is caught on top of a car while it's moving... it's like DD wrote the first scene and said ," That was fun, I think I'll do it 2 more times!"

Also, how is it that Raven lives on the outskirts of the city she was born and raised and never comes across anyone who knew her as a human? This one gets worse when she talks with her father... I wont spoil it but it left me with questions on practibility.

Narrator really does a good job with Christian and Vicktor. She is becoming one of my favorites.

Good book, just a tad redundant with some words.

There were some phrases reused but overall pretty good story. Christian is a great character and Raven is awesome.

The books in this series are getting better.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I don't think I could change this book for the better. I wish it was longer and took the time to set the happenings up so they flowed more naturally. This book was better than the previous ones in the series, but it still felt that the reader was being told that characters felt this or that not shown why they would feel this or that way.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Most interesting was some of the back story revealed (predictable) and least interesting how many traps intelligent "agents" walked into.

Have you listened to any of Nicole Poole’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Nicole Poole's voice performance helps these characters breathe.

Any additional comments?

I will be watching for the next one. I hope it takes a little longer to come so the story will flow more and have a natural feeling instead of a robotic feeling.

Good read but....

I love the series but this book left to many open doors. The story line is good, action great and I enjoyed the relationship building but it did not end well it needed more closure
