Description
For Colorado caterer Goldy Schulz, business isn't just booming - it's skyrocketing. But as her friend Marla is constantly warning her, "Success can kill you." Goldy knows she needs to slow down before she breaks down, and she vows she'll do it - right after her next booking: a cocktail party for the Westside Mall's Elite Shoppers Club. It's the event of the shopping season: the Princess Without a Pricetag party for the wealthy shopaholics who drop at least a thousand dollars a week at the mall. Goldy has been hired by charming mall manager Barry Dean to cater the jewel-encrusted affair. But she has hardly begun setting up when she finds herself in the path of a truck that has no intention of stopping until both she and Barry are crushed beneath it. Muddied, bruised, embarrassed, but determined to do her job, Goldy manages to get the party started on time with the help of her trusted assistants Julian Teller and Liz Fury.But. Hours later, Julian is the prime suspect in the murder. To prove Julian's innocence, Goldy must catch the real killer. But to do that, she will have to figure out why the victim was carrying a powerful narcotic. Between whipping up Sweethearts' Swedish Meatballs, Quiche Me Quick, and Diamond Lovers' Hot Crab Dip, and digging up clues, Goldy knows this is going to be one tough case to crack. And her gourmet sleuth's instinct tells her that the final course will be a real killer.

good book
I have this book with a different narrator, Barbara Rosenblat has done so many of these books, she real grows on you with her personality and depth. the rest of the review is below...
this is another book in which the main character stumbles into the answer, despite all the clues to lead to the criminal. the plot was good, the narrator brought the characters to life, but the pure luck of the lead character is getting old.

Love it!
Barbara Rosenblatt is my favorite narrator! To me, she is Goldy, and Marla and whoever else she portrays. I wish Diane Mott Davidson would publish another Goldy story soon. I can only recommend this series.

This Series Needs a New Narrator!
I am an ardent fan of this series, but more and more the narration by Ms. Rosenblat turns my interest away from the story and leaves me thinking how unsuited she is for Goldy’s voice. I don’t believe the author ever mentioned Goldy being a 4-pack per day smoker and while the main character is witty and sometimes wry, I find the narrator more in the area of bored sarcasm. Don’t get me wrong, Ms. Rosenblat has a terrific and memorable voice—I just don’t think it fits this series.

Chopping Spreedom
Okay, by now Goldie has been hit in the head so many times that she should be brain dead. But I love her!!
I do think that by now she should be smart enough to lock doors behind her when she’s snooping. Can’t we find another way for her to discover the murderer than by being personally strangled?

Did not enjoy this book as much...
Would you try another book from Diane Mott Davidson and/or Barbara Rosenblat?
I would and plan to read more of Diane Mott Davidson's books. I have thoroughly enjoyed most of what I've read. Barbara Rosenblat is a wonderful narrator. In this book she sounded sick.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
If the narrator was sick, I would have preferred she waited before narrating again.
Could you see Chopping Spree being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
No
