Description

Reid Jackson

I’m a simple guy. There are only two things I love: my family and playing professional football.

I may not understand why people get married, but I’d go anywhere for my brother, even his friend Camille’s wedding. Once I’m there, I realize our Bronx upbringing has left me unprepared for the world of old Southern money. Over 24 hours, I see scandal, threats, and lies. It’s a life I don’t relate to, a place I never want to belong. Even so, when the minister asks if anyone objects, I shock not only myself but also the beautiful bride when I stand up and say, “I do.” I don’t know her, she doesn’t know me - but deep down, I knew I had to make that move.

Camille Whitley

As a political socialite in the South, nothing about my life is simple.

For years I’ve known I’d one day be standing at the altar, about to marry a man I don’t love. In Savannah, family expectations and appearances are everything, but none of it’s real. I hate what I’ve become, and I dream of being free. So, when an opportunity suddenly presents itself in the form of a stranger with captivating green eyes, I find myself asking what’s best for me: the plan or the unknown? I don’t know him, he doesn’t know me - but if I’m going to make a move, it’s now or never.

great romance

so this is a new author for me and i loved her book. The characters, the strength in their story, the love, the exploration of each other. The story had a good pace and the characters grow and the story behind each of them was very good intertwined with the rest of the story. It is a true romance story and the narration was good and brought characters to life beautifully.

Had Potential

This story started out with an interesting premise but to me, could have been told in 5 or so less chapters. I got bored in the middle and realize it was way too wordy, just to fill up the pages, not adding to the storyline. That along with the fact that while Callie Dalton is an OK narrator, and Stephen Dexter is an OK narrator, neither are great. Adding to this, Dexter’s female voice took on a horrible southern accent when Dalton didn’t have one at all in her part. Also, Dexter’s female voice is utterly horrible. For me, it was just to awful to get past.

Beautiful

Such a beautiful, heart-warming story! I love that it has two narrators as well. Each did a great job and were pleasant to listen to.

Swooned cover to cover

This is hands down one of the BEST books I’ve read this year! Will definitely re-read. Swoon worthy cover to cover. I couldn’t put it down!

Started great and then became stupid

Preposterous start but I suspended disbelief cos I wanted to find out how it would proceed. It was cute after that and I read on. Towards the end though, the most stupid kind of non-communication (or taking the word of the antagonist as gospel truth and then shitting on the relationship all without checking/verifying on the supposed love interest first) is the conflict that awaits the faithful listener. Thats just unimaginative and lazy, like the author didn’t even try to find a more intelligent point of contention. Waste of time. This was my first of this author. And my last. The narration was good.

Beauty in the "chase"

This was such a beautiful story. The way the characters grew from an instant attraction or acknowledgement that there was something in one another that pulled them like magnets to a relationship that yes gets tested but is full of love had me enthralled. I've never listened to or read any of Kathryn Andrews stories but I'm glad I did. This was a beautiful journey and as always Callie Dalton and Stephen Dexter brought these characters to life.

Great story

I loved this book. I went into it without reading the description and and without looking at reviews. It was recommended to me through a book group when someone asked for “waking up accidentally married” trope. While this book didn’t fit that description exactly, it was still the same type of story. This was emotional and sweet and heartbreaking in parts. I loved how captivated Reid was with Camille, right from the start. And I loved how Reid became a hero to Camille. She needed someone to stand up for her and rescue her so that she could rebuild her strength to in turn rescue herself. That’s what Reid did for her. He whisked her away and let her heal and find herself and in that time, he fell in love with her. I love Callie Dalton narration, I would probably listen to any book with her voice. Unfortunately Stephen Dexter is not my favorite. He’s not bad, but I hated his fake southern accent for Camille, I wish he would have just spoke normally like Callie did. For that I had to drop it one star.

didn't enjoy

I couldn't finish. it was too far fetched for me. Also, it drove me crazy that when the male was narrating his portion of the book, he made the girl have a thick, perfect southern accent; but when the girl nararated she magically had no hint of an accent at all.

Nice story

This is a nice story. It’s good for an escape and you won’t regret it. The narrators made the story even better. They are the reason I listen to audiobook. I highly recommend!
