Description

A warning and a wake-up call to learn history so we are not doomed to repeat it. A must-listen for anyone who longs for a promising future for our great nation.

What is wrong with America today? Is it possible America could crumble and our democracy fail?

Questions like these plague Americans and cause us to be anxious about the future of the "land that we love". Individuals may come to different conclusions, but there seems to be a common thread - the deep-seated feeling we need to improve our country. Our culture is increasingly immoral, the family structure is threatened from all sides, and government programs consistently overreach, creating massive debt.

In this powerful and prophetic audiobook, nationally syndicated columnist and trusted political commentator Cal Thomas offers a diagnosis of what exactly is wrong with the US by drawing parallels to once-great empires and nations that declined into oblivion. Citing the historically proven 250-year pattern of how superpowers rise and fall, he predicts America's expiration date is just around the corner and shows us how to escape their fate.

Through biblical insights and hard-hitting truth, he reminds us that real change comes when America looks to God instead of Washington. Scripture, rather than politics, is the GPS he uses to point listeners to the right road - a road of hope, life, and change. Because, he says, if we're willing to seek God first, learn from history, and make changes at the individual and community level, we can not only survive, but thrive again.

This powerful, timely, and much-needed perspective is a must-hear for anyone who longs for a promising future for our great nation.

No Renewed Hope Here. We’re done!

There is nothing new in this book; no new ideas; no new presentation. While I agree with the content and the messages contained within this book, it is just one more tired slap on the lifeless body of the proverbial dead horse. So tired, I can’t believe anyone agreed to publish it. I eagerly bought this book, thirsting for a new voice for an important and vital idea. This book is not it. No real answers, no new action plan, just the prediction of decay and loss of our country. No renewed hope.

A MUST READ

CAL THOMAS does a superb job summarizing the rise and fall of prior super nations. A course America is going full steam ahead. Really a must read for all students wanting to learn about the history of the rise and fall of our World Empires since the beginning of civilized time. A must read for all of us concerned with where America is and where it looks like it is heading without a way to stop it.

The religious angle is a turnoff

I am generally conservative and I liked the historical context and analysis, but don't care for the bias to the right being reinforced using religion. Also, the tone is less thoughtful than sarcastic, which I don't care for. The reading performance comes off to me as almost bubbly which is a jarring contrast to what should be a serious topic.

Disappointed in Cal

The structure of this book is very confusing. He organized it by empires, but skipped around in the years and I didn't understand the subheadings. It's also a well known fact and pattern that, along with the rejection of God (which he did say a lot about) civilizations disintegrate after the acceptance of homosexuality in society, as normal. He just called out decadence and didn't mention it at all. In one of the appendices, Alexander Solzanizan said we lacked courage in the west. I think Cal lacked courage in exploring this. Is he afraid he will lose his popularity if he dare expose this pattern?

Wake Up America

What a great book. Cal covers 3000 years of history of the world and tells why all once great nations fail. Its America's turn next if the common man doesn't wake up.
