From the trenches of France, General Sean Courtney comes back to fame, fortune and a seat in the government. Mark Anders, the courageous young South African whom he has come to regard as his own son, returns to nothing, his grandfather murdered and his property seized by an unknown company.

At the bottom of the mystery is Sean's son Dirk, the jealous, violent and power-crazed genius whose all-consuming hatred can only end in blood....

A Sparrow Falls is the thrilling third novel in the Courtney series, continuing from When the Lion Feeds and The Sound of Thunder.

Book 3 did not disappoint!

Another great book by Wilbur Smith! Sean Barritts' performance was (as with the last 2 books in the series) absolutely incredible!

Great series goid story

Wilbur Smith paints vivid pictures throughout Africa, sharing stories of the Courtney family. This story focuses on Sean's family and the tragedy of broken families... how important it is to forgive and forget. The story is quite involved, with many characters, places and time. it is a little disjointed and leaves some strings untied. But descriptions of Africa are beautifully written as is the love for adventure. A little to much sex for me... rather have more lions.

Wilbur Smith is a master storyteller!!

This is one of my favorite books.i began reading Mr. Smith’s book as youngster ,and have read all of his books I can find. This book is everything a person could hope for not only as a great read, but as life well lived.Five books stand in high regards among my books, all written by Mr. Smith. The first is the book that started it all,When the Lion Feeds, a Sparrow Falls,Men of Men,River god, and Desert god. All his books a great reads and the stories are spellbinding. The tales of the Courtney’s and Ballentyne’s and that of Ancient Egypt have passionate love ,betrayal, goodness and hope and the great evil one human can do to another in settings and circumstances that have the reader or listener hooked to see what happens next. I hope others find the many happy hours that your swept way in the lives and stories as I was/am. By the way, if Mr.Smith reads this I’d really like to meet you.M.W.Wood Stafford Virginia

Wilbur Smith at his very best!!!

What a trilogy!!! This, the concluding book, has set an extremely high bar for historical fiction peers to attempt to replicate.

Great Listen

This unabridged book is excellent. Stay away from anything with abridgement. I look forward to Wilbur Smiths books becoming available unabridged. I've read them all, now I want to listen to them. They are great!
