Description
Contains books one and two of the 24/7 Demon Mart series.
The Graveyard Shift, book one
Lloyd Wallace is the most clueless crossing guard the intersection of hell and earth has ever seen. So clueless, that he doesn't even realize the beer cave in the corner store where he works is the gateway to hell.
The gate needs a hero, but Lloyd's a zero, a loser with a capital L. He had no money and no prospects until the night he accidentally slayed a one-eyed tentacle monster hellbent on world domination. And, impressed by his pure heart and bravery, the suave but devilish owner of the 24/7 Dairy Mart gave Lloyd a job.
His coworkers - a karate-chopping bombshell and a talking roach with a really bad attitude - need Lloyd's help to keep the demons in line. Can he man up and become a world-saving hero? Or, will he remain a couch-surfing zero? The fate of the world is on the line. What could go wrong?
Monster Burger, book two
One loser, one karate-chopping bombshell, and one talking cockroach stand between you and the zombie apocalypse.
Demon Mart has a serious pest problem. Shoddy construction has compromised the gate. Even the neighborhood is in flux, now that the Monster Burger across the street has a snooty new owner with a personal beef against the Demon Mart staff. And Lloyd Wallace, one-time world-saving hero, is too scared to leave his house. He's had a bit of trouble dealing with the fact that zombies are real.
When the store's living dead staff get restless, and human customers start shuffling around, absolutely starving, ready to eat anything they can get their hands on, it's clear 24/7 Demon Mart has a big problem. It's ground zero for the zombie apocalypse.
It's up to DeeDee, Lloyd, and Kevin to save the day - again. But Lloyd will have to conquer his crippling fear long enough to do his job?
Includes bonus content: Hell for the Holidays, a 24/7 Demon Mart Christmas special.

cool idea ruined by cartoonish narration
This is a fun idea for a story and you genuinely like the characters. It is fun. Until you realize how cowardly the main character is, and how silly the narration is. The narration is horrid. I imagine the word "Ahhhh" was written in the story, but I cannot handle to narrator. Imagine the narrator as a constantly petrified Shaggy and you will get close. It is so cartoonish, and hard to put up with. The main character is ALWAYS scared, voice always high- pitched, cracking, and trembling. He even says the chapter numbers as if he is frightened to continue narrating. At one point, I had drifted off at night listening to this book before bed, and I was shaken out of bed and jolted awake by the narrator's cries of terror. Too bad, it is an otherwise fun story.

He should have read the employee manual.
Lloyd Wallace, the new guy, is an unlikely and unwilling hero. He is a funny, unassuming, overweight guy who has a crush on his goth co-worker DeeDee. DeeDee is a kick-ass woman while Lloyd is a slacker, a loser who is happy trying the different slush flavors. He rides his bike to the sketchy neighborhood to go to the corner convenience store, 24/7 Dairy Mart (24/7 Demon Mart), for his favorite slushy drink. Dairy Mart is the only store that has one hundred and thirty-seven flavors. It is through happenstance and the other employee running off that he ends up killing a one-eyed tentacle monster from hell. From that encounter he is hired to work the midnight shift with the woman of his dreams, DeeDee. What he does not realize is the bear cave is the doorway to hell and he is there to make sure no baddies cross the gate. How he handles the situations when monsters cross is the comedy of the book. He experiences extreme regret when he realizes that he is working for a devil. Yet, the wage of $66.00 an hour to stock beer and handle lottery tickets is a great incentive. He is a realistic guy to know that he is out of his depth, but he has great luck in killing the monsters with items in the store.

Noisy
I am probably of the old school who like the reading to be balanced and leveled. This book was too noisy for my taste. It was like listening to the sund track of a manic cartoon show for kids. Ditched this and found a new book which now enjoy.

Omg- that was so much FUN!!!
I almost never buy books with few or no reviews. This book, however, had all the elements that I usually love such as a tongue in cheek view of hell and monsters. The stories were funny, entertaining, full of action and I don’t have one negative thing to say about it. In fact, I am off to look to see if there are any more books in this series. I am so glad I gave this a shot!

Started funny, then got old
The first "book" is original and clever. The MC is clueless but comes through when it counts. The second part is pretty much him screaming in abject panic every other page. I mean that literally. Fully half his lines are "I can't deal" or "AAAAAAAAAA!". For whatever reason the author decided to take away every redeeming trait he displayed in the first book.
If you get this stick to the beginning, it's worth the effort, but don't bother with the second half.

Wildly Exceeded Expectations!
Wow! I just finished books 1&2 and I'm craving more. I wish there were more books in this series, I'd buy them all! This series is a wonderful mix of comedy, coming of age and awesomely inappropriate commentary.
I was slightly concerned when I started book 1 that Todd Haberkorn didn't have the female lead's voice nailed down, but it was short lived. The emotion that he put into his voice acting has no equal and was a solid 5-start performance. I'm beyond impressed.
TLDR: Buy this book immediately; you can thank me later.

An entertaining combination of horror and comedy.
The high-energy narration perfectly complemented the pop-culture reference-laced humor used to tell the tale of dealing with the real life demons of high debt and a low paying job. I also loved Steve's ( "don't be a jag off") Pittsburgh dialect. Overall, these stories are great diversions from the Poe-like atmosphere of our current time. Please keep these books coming.

it was a struggle to finish and I had to return it
I struggled to finish this book. it was just so painful to hear how stupid the MC was. I understand he was a dropout and a loser, but still I figured after a while he would be brave and used to the demons and monsters. The performance was pretty good if you like the narrator talking very frantically.

Possibly the stupidest hero in history
I kept hoping the main character would get killed and Deedee would become the heroine and main protagonist. I tried hard to find a trope not includedin the story, but I failed.
