STEFANIE SMITH, EXECUTIVE CONSULTANT: PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND Stefanie Smith leads Stratex, an executive consulting and coaching firm based in Manhattan and founded in 1996. As a consultant, she works with corporate and nonprofit leaders to plan and achieve operational and organizational strategic initiatives. She coordinates closely with internal teams and outside specialists. She has provided consulting, coaching, and training solutions for leaders at Morgan Stanley, American Express, JP Morgan, KPMG, SONY, Universal Republic Records, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Western Forge, WinStar Communications and private firms. As a private coach, Stefanie guides executives to reach their career aspirations, based on their particular situations, strengths and goals. Previously, at Grant Thornton LLP, she advised middle market companies, government agencies and non-profit institutions. At Mount Sinai Medical Center, she performed strategic, operational and financial projects for the CFO and executive team. At the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, she streamlined operations and presented to the public on Fed policies and global capital markets. In her writing and work with business journalists, she addresses both the intellectual and emotional aspects of career management. She speaks and moderates for academic and professional groups and is quoted regularly in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Sydney Morning Herald, CBS Moneywatch.com, CNBC.com, The Christian Science Monitor and other major periodicals. She is a bylined contributor to American Management Association publications - she penned the most popular AMA article in 2007, wrote a three-part "Amp-Up Your Leadership" series in 2010, and has upcoming articles this year. She also writes a blog, www.CoachStef.com to provide ideas and resources for professional success. Stefanie Smith's blend of creative and business perspectives reflects her academic and professional history, plus her passion for the arts. She studied Romance Languages and Literature at Princeton, but wrote a quantitative thesis on the Latin American debt crisis and holds an MBA from Wharton and London Business School. She sometimes quotes Pablo Neruda at executive strategy meetings or refers to Tocqueville while coaching clients. But her focus is always on getting the right results. Stefanie is bilingual English/Spanish and speaks French. She volunteers pro bono time to medical, cultural and community service organizations.
