Jack J. Ward

Jack J. Ward is a Canadian writer and audio-drama pioneer whose work spans more than a hundred original plays, adaptations, and serialized stories produced over the past two decades. As the founder of Sonic Cinema Productions, Ward has written and produced an extensive body of audio fiction ranging from science fiction and historical adventure to comedy, fantasy, and family storytelling.

His scripts have been performed by actors from around the world and released through major audio-fiction platforms, helping shape what is now considered the modern audio-drama renaissance. Ward’s writing is known for blending classic storytelling traditions with contemporary themes, often drawing inspiration from Golden Age radio, myth, and speculative fiction.

Beyond his own work as a playwright and writer, Ward is also recognized as a leading pioneer in the audio-fiction community. He created The Sonic Society, one of the longest-running audio-drama showcases, and later founded the Mutual Audio Network, both of which grew directly out of his passion for writing, producing, and sharing original audio drama. These platforms have helped launch, support, and preserve hundreds of independent audio-fiction creators worldwide.

The Ward Father Christmas Letters reflects Ward’s quieter, more reflective side as a writer—rooted in tradition, memory, and the timeless magic of spoken storytelling. Whether writing epic serial adventures or intimate holiday tales, Ward remains committed to stories designed to be heard, imagined, and shared.

He lives in Canada, where he continues to write, produce, and advocate for audio drama as a vital literary art form.
