Miracles are not just stories from the distant past. They are still happening today. The miracles recorded in the Bible have inspired generations: water turned to wine, seas divided, the sick healed, and lives forever changed through the power of God. These sacred moments continue to remind us of a loving Heavenly Father who watches over His children with compassion and care. That same God still works miracles in our world.

Keeping up with the escapades of the kids in my classroom was one thing. Avoiding the drug dealers next door was another. Then there was Harold, the guy I could neither see nor hear, the ghost who helped me survive more than one attack on my life. How did we communicate? By text, of course.

Harold is dead, shot by an unknown assailant. While staring at his lifeless body, his deceased uncle enters the room and urges Harold to follow him to a better place. Harold refuses, determined to hold onto his earthly belongings. While he investigates his own murder, he learns how to adjust to the world as a spirit, interact with the town's other ghostly inhabitants, and frighten new tenants who dare move into his house. Eventually a malicious entity known as "the Dark One" invades his home. Can Harold get rid of it and solve the mystery of his death?

I can never remember the details after I wake up, but I've had the same nightmare too many times throughout the years, more than I can count. Recently I asked my brothers and sisters if they ever dream about the old house. Some tell me they do--of a room that wasn't there. That settles it. I'm turning this story over to my twelve-year-old incorrigible self. Only a scrawny kid skidding awkwardly toward puberty can explain how it feels to be haunted by the sins of his father, hunted by the town bullies, and taunted by a cantankerous ghost.
