Irwin is sent off together with a group of youths to placate a group of sorcerers. With just the weird utility card gifted by his brother, he can only pray to stay alive long enough. Little does he know that this is the start of an epic journey that will take him across his world and many others, gathering friends, enemies, and power as he does.

The clock is ticking, and Irwin’s time in the safety of civilization has run out. His quest to save his family and world forces him back on the road. His destination? A hidden portal unlike any other. It is said to be so dangerous that no one who has entered has ever come back. Irwin, however, has no choice. The portal is his only chance to reach the Portal Gallery, the home of the Smiths Guild. This legendary and endless nexus connects all worlds and holds the key to his survival.

Finally out of a portal that almost got him killed, Irwin must find somewhere to hide—a place to learn about forging cards and about the mysterious sentient anvil he found.
