This week on Yesterday’s Star Trek, Mike and Tyler kick off Season 3 of Deep Space Nine with Episodes 1–3, and the show wastes absolutely no time shifting gears. In “The Search, Parts 1 & 2,” the Federation rolls out the Defiant, Sisko goes founder-hunting in the Gamma Quadrant, and DS9 dives headfirst into paranoia, power plays, and the uncomfortable reality that peace might already be lost. Then, just when things couldn’t get heavier, “The House of Quark” swerves hard into Klingon politics, honor culture, and one deeply inconvenient marriage.

Tyler and Mike kick off For Your Consideration by revisiting Star Trek: The Motion Picture, slow, strange, and undeniably ambitious. This episode introduces a long-term project: reviewing all 13 Star Trek films and nominating them in original, Trek-specific award categories to determine which entries truly deserve top honours in the franchise canon.

For our final episode of 2025, we answer fan questions we left behind, mainly about our music bracket episode. We also discuss what 2026 will bring as we look at finishing Deep Space Nine for Tyler, a new trek with Starfleet Academy and a fourth season of Strange New Worlds...we reflect, look forward and discuss some new and old Star Trek.
