This episode we start off talking about her life growing up with Andy Griffith, not Andy Taylor, as a father. He was a good dad but nobody is Andy Taylor. We find out more about Andy through the way he names his dogs and so many other fun facts about how Dixie grew up. Dixie is the daughter of Andy Griffith and back in 2015 she came to her first Mayberry event. Since that time she has attended many events, Mayberry cruises and all in all enjoyed experiencing the fans of her dad and Mayberry. This is the first of as two episode series where we'll be able to hear from Dixie about family, the Mayberry fandom, her father, her mother and about herself. We start off hearing about her latest hobby then move into talking about attending Mayberry Days in 2015 for the first time. The conversation goes along from there and I know you're going to enjoy hearing from Dixie. This is a series of episodes that you'll want to watch the video because I show photos related to some of the stories Dixie shares with us.       Host: Allan Newsome Running time: 0:39:26 There are some amazing Mayberry events scheduled for 2026 that i think you'd really enjoy. I'll point out some of them which can be found on the iMayberry.com website's "Event Calendar." I certainly encourage you to try to attend one of the scheduled events. To give you an idea of what you might see when attending one of the larger events we're going to watch (yes, I think you should watch the YouTube version of this episode) a compilation of video clips from Mount Airy, N.C.'s 2025 Mayberry Days event. Specifically this is from the "Col. Tim's Talent Time" show that wraps up the Mayberry Days week each year. These clips feature the Mayberry tribute artists recreating moments from the episode "The Songfesters" (S4.E20). It features James Dodson as Andy, Terry Varvel as Barney, Chris Bauman as Gomer, and Allan Newsome (me) as Floyd. The choir itself features all the other tribute characters as well as several "fans" who were attending Col. Tim's. The events seen were done as what I call "in-betweens" with the final choir scene done as a featured act. And "in-between" is something done between the talent acts occurring during the show to keep the "Mayberry" feel of the event flowing among the singers, dancers and other acts of Col Tim's Talent Time. I hope you enjoy it and that it gives you an idea of what you're missing during these wonderful Mayberry events. A big thank you to Neil & Pat Coleman for the video of Col. Tim's!
