Flood Warning until 4 P.M. For Wood and Pleasants counties. Flood Watch for northern parts until 1 P.M. Creeks are swollen and roads are disappearing under water. If you see flooding, turn around. Don't test it. The Northern Panhandle is getting hammered this morning. Rain keeps falling through the day as temps hit 69 degrees. Fog's thick too — visibility down to a quarter mile in spots until around 10 A.M. Take it slow out there. Central West Virginia sees a few rumbles of thunder early, then climbs to 76 degrees by afternoon. That's 46 degrees warmer than normal for early March. Your daffodils are confused. Southern West Virginia catches a break today. Mostly cloudy, high near 72. Just a slight chance of rain until evening showers roll in. Tonight, rain continues everywhere. Lows hold in the mid-50s to around 60 degrees. Friday brings record-threatening warmth. Upper 70s and low 80s statewide. Keep that umbrella handy though — scattered storms remain possible. Saturday's the one to watch. Strong to severe thunderstorms likely in the afternoon. Damaging winds are the main threat. Highs near 80 before the storms hit. Down south, you catch a break with just a slight chance of showers overnight. Thursday keeps the wet pattern going. The Panhandle stays soggy with rain and fog, highs near 69 degrees. Central areas climb to 78 degrees with rain likely. The south reaches 72 degrees with a chance of afternoon showers. Now here's the headline. Friday and Saturday bring extraordinary warmth. We're talking highs near 81 degrees in central West Virginia. That's roughly 47 degrees above normal for early March. We're flirting with record territory. But Saturday brings a catch. Step outside and you might think we skipped straight to late April. In the next 24 hours. Central West Virginia is basking in 66 degrees right now. That's running a solid 47 degrees warmer than usual for early March. You'll likely see a few rumbles of thunder as rain peaks around 5 P.M. It stays unusually mild tonight with showers and a low of 57. Head north to the Panhandle and it's a bit cooler at 59 degrees, but the rain is persistent. Watch for patchy fog developing as that 90 percent chance of rain continues overnight. Lows only dip to about 55 degrees. Down in southern West Virginia, you're looking at 65 degrees this afternoon with rain likely through early evening. Skies partially clear tonight with a low around 52. A Flood Warning is in effect for Mason County until 5:30 P.M. We've also got a Flood Watch covering northwest West Virginia and southeast Ohio through Thursday afternoon. Creeks are running high, so don't try to drive through water covering the road. Tomorrow kicks off a remarkable warm stretch. Central areas hit 78 degrees. The Panhandle reaches 69. The south climbs to 72. We're talking 47 degrees to 47 degrees above normal. Friday and Saturday could challenge records, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. But Saturday brings a change.
