  • It’s All Your Fault
    May 28 2024
In today’s episode The Therapy Sisters explore the idea that often is internalized among those who grew up in religious communities that, whenever something goes wrong, it must be your fault. Struggle with depression? Pray more! Life hands you something challenging? Must be because you’re not doing enough. Or the right thing. It’s exhausting and it isn’t true. Listen as they share their experiences around this, how they see this play out in the lives of their clients, and what you can do to help address this narrative in your own life.

  • Purity Culture and Women's Relationships With Their Bodies
    Apr 16 2024

Hello, and welcome back to The Therapy Sisters Podcast!

In today's episode, The Therapy Sisters discuss purity culture and some of the inherent messages young women internalized about their bodies as a result, including:

-Where shame about the body starts

-How the messaging within purity culture impacts the mind/body/emotion connection

-The "light switch effect" when women get married.

    -How consent factors in

-How women's sexuality is largely left out of the conversation

-How young girls who grew up within purity culture are made responsible for the thoughts/actions/desires of men and how that plays out into their future sexual lives and relationships with their own bodies.

    ....and more!

    Mar 12 2024

Welcome back to the Beyond Sacred Scars Podcast with The Therapy Sisters! We're so glad you're here and joining us for these conversations.

We have a guest today, our friend Kelly, who discusses her journey. Hers could have led to walking away from her faith but instead it solidified her beliefs while continuing to work on unpacking the narratives that were doing some harm to her. Kelly continues to be in worship ministry to this day and is really focused on how she shows up in the world in a loving and authentic way.
