  • City Under ICE
    Mar 2 2026
In January, Minneapolis dominated news headlines with US federal officers taking over city streets, making arrests at gunpoint and executing innocent civilians. While Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) claimed to be cracking down on criminal aliens, it targeted undocumented workers and immigrant families, many of whom are people of colour without criminal records. At the same time, anti-ICE protesters were pepper sprayed and shot at with rubber bullets. Julia is a Minneapolis resident and community organizer who is part of the resistance movement. In our conversation, Julia opens up about her advocacy and what really happened on the ground in her home state of Minnesota.

  • Working the Breath
    Jun 23 2025

You might have recently come across various social media ads showing people on mats rhythmically panting followed by scenes of them sobbing and receiving emotional support with a gentle hand. Celebrity appeal has popularized this practice, which is part of a mindfulness industry worth billions of dollars. I’m talking about Breath Work - one of the top wellness trends at the moment. This body-based approach is said to release and transform emotional trauma, relieve mental stress and enhance general well-being. Jeyda Deyna is a Breath Work practitioner based in Toronto, and in this extensive interview, she shares her expertise and explains why this popular somatic practice is both healing and transformative.
