  • North Dakota Weather 3/6 Morning - Winter Weather Advisory
    Mar 6 2026
Good morning. North Dakota. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside and you'll feel it. That damp, foggy chill sitting at 30 degrees. But don't get comfortable. A cold front is barreling through. And it's bringing a messy mix with it. Here's the play by play. Western North Dakota, you're first up — light snow this morning with minor accumulation. Central areas, your window is 7 A.M. To 2 P.M. Expect snow and breezy northwest winds around 15 miles an hour. Eastern North Dakota? You're dealing with patchy freezing drizzle and fog through noon, then drizzle picks up between 1 P.M. and 6 P.M. Any ice makes surfaces slick — take it slow if you're driving. Temperature wise, it's a split story. Western areas climb to the mid 30s. Eastern regions start mild in the upper 30s but nosedive to the upper 20s by afternoon as that cold air rushes in. Northwest winds gust to 26 miles an hour, making it feel brutal. Wind chills drop to 19 degrees in central areas this morning and 19 degrees out east by midday. That's the kind of cold that bites. Tonight, skies clear and winds ease. Lows fall to the low 20s statewide. Now here's where it gets interesting. Saturday brings sunshine and highs in the upper 40s to mid 50s. Sunday? Even warmer — 59 degrees with breezy southwest winds. That's well above normal for early March. But Monday starts pleasant at 42, but snow returns Monday night with 1 to 2 inches possible. Tuesday stays cloudy near 40 with more snow likely. Wednesday clears out in the low 40s. And by Thursday we're back to mid 40s with a slight chance of snow. Today, folks. This cold snap has teeth. See you tomorrow. • North Dakota Weather March 5 Midday - Dense Fog Advisory
    Mar 5 2026
Good afternoon. North Dakota. I'm Aaron Jolly. If you're driving right now, I need your full attention. Dense fog has swallowed the eastern half of the state. Visibility drops to a quarter mile in spots. That Dense Fog Advisory stays in effect until 6 P.M. Slow down. Headlights on. Give yourself space. In the next 24 hours. Now let's talk temperatures, because we've got a wild split today. Down along the South Dakota border. Fargo pushes near 48 degrees — jacket weather. Central areas like Bismarck sit at 38 degrees under gray skies. But up north near the Canadian border? You're locked in the low 20s all afternoon. That's a 25 degrees swing across the state. Tonight's when things get messy. Freezing rain develops after midnight across eastern North Dakota. Rain starts between 3 and 5 A.M., then turns to ice as temps hover around 28 degrees. Ice accumulation up to a tenth of an inch. Roads will turn into skating rinks fast. Friday morning's commute looks brutal. A Winter Weather Advisory kicks in from midnight to 6 P.M. Friday. Central areas see a slight chance of light snow Friday, mainly between 9 A.M. and 3 P.M. Northern regions stay mostly cloudy with highs near 31 degrees. Winds pick up from the northwest, gusting to 25 miles an hour. Here's the good news for your weekend. Saturday brings sunshine and a big warmup — highs jump into the low 50s statewide. Sunday gets even warmer, with most areas reaching the low 60s. Breezy both days with gusts to 30 miles an hour. Monday starts quiet before snow moves in Monday night. One to three inches possible by Tuesday morning. Tuesday stays active with continued snow and highs in the low 40s. Wednesday clears out with highs in the mid 30s. If you found this helpful, a quick rating really does make a difference. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

  • North Dakota Weather March 5 Morning - 15° Above Normal
    Mar 5 2026
Good morning. North Dakota. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside and you're walking into a thick, gray fog. At 25 degrees, that moisture is freezing on contact. Roads are slick, especially around Fargo and the Red River Valley. A Winter Weather Advisory runs until 11 A.M. For freezing drizzle. Give yourself extra time this morning. In the next 24 hours. Here's where it gets wild. A stationary front has split the state in two. Eastern North Dakota climbs to 48 degrees today. Central areas reach 42. But up near the Canadian border? Only 26 degrees. That's a 22-degree spread across a single state. Fog lingers through much of the day under stubborn clouds. Tonight, temperatures hold in the upper teens up north, low 30s southeast. Rain creeps into the southeast after 1 A.M. Friday brings a tricky wintry mix — freezing rain, sleet. And snow all make an appearance. Eastern North Dakota sees the highest chance, with temperatures falling through the 30s. Minor snow accumulation possible. Then the weekend flips the script beautifully. Saturday brings sunshine and highs in the mid-40s to low 50s. Sunday? We're talking 60 degrees in central North Dakota. That's about 15 degrees above normal for early March. Next week cools back down with chances for snow Monday into Tuesday. In Sunrise this morning at 7, 01. Sunset at 6:19. We're gaining over three minutes of daylight each day now. Spring equinox sits just two weeks away. Tonight's full moon may play hide-and-seek with lingering clouds. Drive carefully this morning. That fog and freezing drizzle aren't messing around. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
