Visibility drops to a quarter mile in spots. That Dense Fog Advisory stays in effect until 6 P.M. Slow down. Headlights on. Give yourself space. In the next 24 hours. Now let's talk temperatures, because we've got a wild split today. Down along the South Dakota border. Fargo pushes near 48 degrees — jacket weather. Central areas like Bismarck sit at 38 degrees under gray skies. But up north near the Canadian border? You're locked in the low 20s all afternoon. That's a 25 degrees swing across the state. Tonight's when things get messy. Freezing rain develops after midnight across eastern North Dakota. Rain starts between 3 and 5 A.M., then turns to ice as temps hover around 28 degrees. Ice accumulation up to a tenth of an inch. Roads will turn into skating rinks fast. Friday morning's commute looks brutal. A Winter Weather Advisory kicks in from midnight to 6 P.M. Friday. Central areas see a slight chance of light snow Friday, mainly between 9 A.M. and 3 P.M. Northern regions stay mostly cloudy with highs near 31 degrees.
